The time travellers have called for a city wide day of General Unrest. Join our collective anger at everything and everyone that plucks the fruits of this society without realizing the fruit is rotten. The Happening will give everyone present the opportunity to express their unrest in words and actions. According to the limited information available on this event in the city archives of 2123 (timeline 35C-A3C2, aka the brightest timeline) "The happening saw the first ever violent revolt of the pigeons, the collectivisation of Van Moofs and Swapfietsen, the great smoke ritual, the tyre extinguishing Magic Bean plan and of course the symbolic metamorphosis of the statue 'Het Lieverdje' from the Addicted Consumer of Yesterday to the Addicted Consumer of Tomorrow. A famous voodoo lady from the future who fortold the people of 2023 their fortune was also present aswell as the Spirit of Mokum itself, possessing the bodies of the Mokumers and making them spew out the most obscene seditions imaginable."

De Stad begint waar het land eindigt. Dus begint Amsterdam waar nederland eindigt. Mokkumers spreken alle talen. Provincialen meer een kennelijk ....
Ja Amsterdammers spreken
Ja Amsterdammers spreken allerlei talen en dat is al lang zo, maar wat is dat nou weer voor stadse/randstedelijke arrogantie? Er zit niet per se nationalisme vast aan een opmerking over een tekst die alleen in het Engels is. Als ie beide talen zou zijn, was het al anders. Net zoals je met covid voorzichtig kan doen zonder gehoorzaam te zijn aan de staat, maar omdat je geeft om je medemens, is wederzijds begrip en toegankelijkheid (dit is GEEN pleidooi voor alleen NL) ook niet meteen nationalisme. Het is simpelweg zo dat tegenwoordig in Amsterdam veel meer Engels wordt gesproken en dat voor velen vervreemdend is, ook al begrijpen ze het. Daar gaan jaren stadsvernieuwing, gentrificatie, neoliberaal beleid en verplaatsing van gemeenschappen overheen. Des te meer reden voor zo'n actie als dit, creatief verzet met een knipoog naar het verleden, en dat kan nog steeds leuk zijn. Goed als dat meertalig is. Toch is het sentiment bij zo'n Engelse tekst te snappen, Mokum is veranderd.
