Komende zaterdag gaan we voor de tweede keer de straat op in Rhenen! Van de vier restaurants met foie gras waar we contact mee hebben opgenomen, is er nog één restaurant over. Dit restaurant heeft er (na pogingen tot contact via e-mail en brief) toch voor gekozen om foie gras blijven te serveren, ondanks dat ze duidelijk op de hoogte zijn gebracht van het dierenleed.

In een interview op beeld werd helaas duidelijk dat er weinig ethisch besef te vinden is bij dit restaurant: de productiemethode (en daarbij dus het gruwelijke dierenleed) van foie gras doet niet ter zake, ze werken met producten die mogen in Nederland, en als iemand het daar niet mee eens is moeten ze naar Den Haag. Wat is er gebeurt met zelf nadenken over kwesties als dierenleed?

Deze reactie geeft nog een extra reden om erheen te gaan en het restaurant te wijzen op de eigen verantwoordelijkheden.

Upcoming Saturday we are going to protest for the second time in Rhenen! From the four restaurants with foie gras that we contacted, only one is left. This restaurant (after we contacted them via both mail and letter) still chooses to sell foie gras, even though they are clearly aware of the animal cruelty.

In an interview for TV it sadly enough became clear that very little ethical awareness can be found at this restaurant: the method of production (and with that the huge amount of animal cruelty) for foie gras doesn’t matters. They work with products that are allowed in the Netherlands, and if someone doesn’t agrees with that they should go to Den Haag. What happened to think for yourself about issues like animal cruelty?

This response gives even more reason to go and point out their own responsibilities.
