On 16/17/06.2018 Freedom Fighters tenth league took place.
We got 4 events in total that brought combat sports enthusiasts from countries such as Germany, England, Belgium, Ukraine and from all over Poland. The event got opened by Yoga workshop intended to put pressure on relax muscles of martial arts trainees. Number of them risk injuries and overtraining so the practice could reduce those complaints. In the evening a lecture of Olaf Susicki about the carbohydrates in athlete's diet took place, so it was another opportunity to extend knowledge. Despite it was held after the fights (also the lecturer's) there was enough of students.
There was also enough of league participants. 15 fights took place – 1 boxing, 2 BJJ no-gi, 9 K-1 Rules and 3 Muaythai. There was full variety of the fights – we had beginners and advanced fighters with the record of few/dozen of fights, junior fight and veterans, light and heavy. There were decision verdicts, but knockouts as well (5 fights in total, 1 BJJ no-gi out of them). Around 200 audience could see combat sports in all its glory.
Later at night New Order DJ's squad integrated all that have come to the event.
Next day a traditional (5th) muay thai seminar with well known master Peter Irving took place. More than 20 people attended to train, few fighters from the previous day included. The 3 hour-long seminar was about teeps and roundhouse kicks and traditional Muaythai defences against them – catches. First, Pete teached about including a defence factor in every attack, for example inconvenient body posture, hip rotation etc. Then he showed few ways to catch the kicks and counter-attacks – some easier and safe ways, but also more complex and intended to cause more harm to the opponent, like in pro fights.
As a organiser's collective we'd like to officially thank: No Defeats crew from Wrocław for borrowing us their DIY ring for another time. Judges for fair verdicts. Zemsta for not letting anyone hungry from the event. Of course all the fighters for courage to step in the ring, leave whole heart and a little bit of heatlh there. And of course Peter Irving for great referee job and awesome seminar.
Because we had round number this year, few numbers. We were having our leagues in 4 different locations in Poznań. We had 111 fights in total. 111! There was also 10 seminars with fighters fighting for promotions like UFC, Bellator, KSW, Cage Warriors and legendary Lumpini stadium in Bangkok. We are meeting point for combat sports enthusiasts from all over Europe. We've organise a fully equipped gym with 15 hours of trainings a week for free, and it's open all the time for people's need
