Op dinsdag 13 januari organiseert Queeresist een filmavond in het Autonoom Centrum Den Haag. Ditmaal met de film PRIDE.

PRIDE is een speelfilm gebaseerd op de echte gebeurtenissen rond de langdurige staking van de Nationale Unie van Mijnwerkers. In de zomer van 1984 staken de mijnwerkers tegen het beleid van Margaret Thatcher. Een groep Britse homoactivisten besluit geld in te ingezameld om de mijnwerkers te steunen en vormen de actiegroep Lesbians and Gays Support the Miners. De vakbond voelt zich echter gegeneerd om het geld aan te nemen. Een groep van Lesbians and Gays Support the Miners besluiten om met een busje naar Wales te gaan om de donatie aan de mijnwerkers zelf te overhandigen.

Voorafgaande aan de film zal er ook veganistische soep en brood met kruidenboter zijn. De film is in het Engels.

13-01-2015 Film Night: PRIDE (Lesbians and Gays Support the Miners)

On Tuesday January 13th Queeresist will be organizing a film night at Autonoom Centrum The Hague. This time with the film PRIDE.

PRIDE is a film based on the real events surrounding the protracted strike of the National Union of Mineworkers. In the summer of 1984, the mineworkers went on strike to protest Margaret Thatcher’s policy. A group of British gay activists decides to collect money in order to support the mineworkers and forms the action group Lesbians and Gays Support the Miners. The mineworkers union, however, is too embarrassed to accept the money. The group Lesbians and Gays Support the Miners decides to go by bus to Wales to personally give the money to the striking miners.
