One person remains in custody following the events of October 30, when Hambach forest defense activists were pepper-sprayed, choked, and beaten with batons (one person nearly to the point of unconsciousness) during an eviction (see: https://www.indymedia.nl/node/25210).
Some arrested activists were forced to give their fingerprints by violence. Six had to give their DNA to the court. While raiding the meadow occupation, the police confiscated several items they defined as illegal. Several small electronic devices were stolen by police. Five climbing harnesses and several mobile phones were confiscated as well.
While the only treehouse which was located in this clearcut area has been evicted, the Hambach Forest remains occupied at two other spots.
The person still in custody — Sebastian “Basti” Peitruschka — is being charged with dangerous assault after being beaten up by RWE security. He needs your support now!
