Op 3 oktober benadrukte Yasha Lange, de woordvoerder van het UvA-bestuur, op landelijke radio hoe belangrijk het was dat het bestuur met de studenten in het Spinhuis in gesprek bleef. ‘Als we ergens als UvA geen zin in hebben, dan is het procederen tegen eigen studenten.’ Hij sprak de wens uit hier samen uit te willen komen. Daarna hoorden we niets meer van het bestuur.

Tot vorige week. Toen kregen zes studenten, die eerder een Wob-verzoek hadden ondertekend, een 127 pagina’s dikke dagvaarding bezorgd per post. Uit deze dagvaarding blijkt dat de UvA nog steeds geen concrete plannen met het pand die wij verhinderen, en we hebben nu zwart op wit dat er wel plannen waren om antikraak in het pand te zetten, iets wat eerder, in meerdere gesprekken met de Rector Magnificus, glashard ontkend werd.

Afgelopen vrijdag was er een manifestatie in het Spinhuis als reactie op de dagvaarding van de UvA. Er was muziek en daarna speeches met oa Ewout van der Hoog, één van de Maagdenhuisbezetters in '69. Daarna sprak iemand van het Spinhuis Collectief wiens speech je hier kan teruglezen (http://hetspinhuis.wordpress.com/2014/10/21/kraak-de-universiteit/). Aanstaande vrijdagochtend vindt de hoorzitting plaats om 9.30 bij de rechtbank op Parnassusweg 220. Mocht je tijd hebben om de zes gedagvaarde studenten (alleen omdat ze een WOB-verzoek indienden!!!) en het Spinhuis te steunen, kom vooral langs! We zullen zo'n 15 min van te voren buiten verzamelen.

Spinhuis Newsletter Week 7
Dear all,

It’s been some time since the last email. Quite a lot of things have happened in the last week that require an update, but lets start with this week’s program. At this moment a group of people participating in the workshop Situationist psychogeography are confusing themselves and the tourists around them through the rain in central Amsterdam. This Thursday 20.00 we have an exciting storytelling evening with stories that you do not hear from the news or the papers, stories from people who occupied places and tried to change things for the better. Besides stories there will also be great klezmer music from Caspian Scratch! On Friday evening there will be music in the Spinhuis as well, with To Twelve (and maybe more) playing some funky tunes

Now more about the situation of the Spinhuis. A week ago six students personally received a 127 page subpoena from a lawyer’s office hired by the university. Strangely enough, these six students were selected as ‘squatters’ solely because they put their name under the WOB-verzoek... In the 127 pages we still haven’t been able to find any concrete plans that we are obstructing by our stay in the former Common Room of the Spinhuis. It does however mention that they were planning to put anti-squat in the building, something that was denied several times by the Rector Magnificus in our talks. The hearing will be Friday morning 9.30 at the courthouse at Parnassusweg 220. We very much appreciate it if you show up (15 minutes earlier) to support the collective and the students that have been subpoenaed.

Last Friday, in response to the legal action taken by the UvA we organized a manifestation at the Spinhuis with the slogan ‘Kraak de universiteit!’. There was some great music from Piro Syklone. We then had a speech by Maagdenhuis ´69 occupier Ewout van der Hoog, followed by a speech from one of the Spinhuis Collective which you can read back here. After this speech, a group of about 60 students and sympathizers walked to the Maagdenhuis with torches and left a big Spiderman at the front door. The day after many of us participated in the massive street rave Amsterdam Danst Ergens Voor, with the spiderman torso placed on the truck at the front of the demo, and with some of the collective giving a speech on the ADEV stage about the Spinhuis.
