Een gezamenlijke strijd
In juni van dit jaar komen de leiders van de G8 (de rijkste landen ter wereld) bij elkaar in Noord-Ierland. Terwijl de economische crisis zich verder vastnagelt, en de planeet in brand staat gaan de bazen en politici door met “business as usual”. Kapitalisme is een systeem dat doodt, degradeert, en de meerderheid uitbuit voor winst aan de top. Van 10 tot 14 juni organiseren we een week van actie en diverse evenementen in Londen!
Londen is het kloppend hart van het wereldwijde kapitalisme. De corporaties, banken en hedge funds, en miljardairs die onze wereld plunderen hebben namen en adressen. Ze zitten in de glazen torens van de stad, achter ongemarkeerde deuren in Mayfair en Knightsbridge. Londen is de het witwassende nest van de dictators, een speeltuin voor de superrijken. Maar Londen is ook onze stad. Een stad van hoop, een stad van weerstand en strijd.
Het kapitalisme vermoordt ons door middel van: werkloosheid, bezuinigingen, en de wederopstand van het fascisme in het “Westen”. Armoede, kolonialisme, en de brutale uitbuiting van “Derde Wereld landen”. Er is oorlog en hongersnood door de zelfverrijking aan de top. Geprivatiseerde gevangenissen, politiecontroles, en cameratoezicht houden ons bang en controleerbaar. Het leven is beroofd van alle betekenis en schoonheid, onze dromen en onze waardigheid zijn te koop gezet.
Stop met negeren. Bevecht de apathie en wacht niet meer. Sta op en vecht voor vrienden en geliefden, voor onze gemeenschap en voor onze planeet, voor alles wat ze ons proberen af te nemen. De tijd is nu. Om ons te verenigen en dit bestrijden. In een gemeenschappelijke strijd.
Doe mee en ga met ons de straat op:
10-14 juni: Een week vol van acties, lezingen, bijeenkomsten, films, games, concerten en nog veel meer, in heel Londen en daarbuiten.
11 juni: De dag van de grote actie in het centrum van Londen.
17-18 juni: De dag van de G8-top, Enniskillen, Noord-Ierland.
Hoe zit het dan met de top in Enniskillen?
Wij zijn van mening dat elke actie op de G8-top in Enniskillen lokaal moet zijn begonnen. Het StopG8 netwerk zal een lokaal georganiseerde mobilisatie ondersteunen. Voorlopig houden we het einde van de week vrij. We houden je op de hoogte zodra er meer informatie beschikbaar is.
Als je naar London wilt komen:
Er zijn samenkomsten en slaapruimtes beschikbaar voor mensen die naar Londen reizen voor de actieweek die gehouden wordt van 10 tot 14 juni. Wij verwelkomen iedereen die betrokken wil zijn bij de (internationale) mobilisatie voor de actieweek in Londen.

One Common Struggle.
This June the leaders of the G8 (the world’s richest countries) are meeting in Northern Ireland. As economic crisis bites, and the planet burns, the bosses and their politicians are celebrating business as usual. Capitalism: a system that kills, exploits, and degrades the many for the profit of a few.
On June 10-14 we are organising a week of action and events in London. London is at the heart of global capitalism. The corporations, banks, hedge funds, and billionaires looting our world have names and addresses. They are in the glass towers of the City, and behind unmarked doors in Mayfair and Knightsbridge. London is the money-laundering den of dictators, the playground of the super-rich. But London is our city too. A city of hope, resistance, and struggle.
Capitalism is killing us. Unemployment, cuts, and the rise of fascism in the “West”. Poverty, colonialism, brutal exploitation in the “Third World”. War and famine for profit. Private prisons, police checks, CCTV to keep us scared and controlled. Life robbed of meaning and beauty, our dreams and our dignity for sale.
Don’t ignore. Don’t wait. For our friends and loved ones, for our communities, for our planet, for everything they’re trying to take from us. The time is now. Let’s come together, and fight. One common struggle.
