Our next edition of the Antifa Café will be about the Zapatista’s! The Zapatista’s are a leftist revolutionary group based in Mexico who tried to start a nationwide revolution on the 1st of January, 1994. This is the date when the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) came into effect, NAFTA has a lot of similarities with TTIP. Besides NAFTA, the Zapatista’s fight against the big landowners in Mexico and fight for indigenous control of their own lands. After initial revolutionary success, the Mexican military pushed them back into the jungle preventing a revolution. Nevertheless, the Zapatista’s are still fighting for their cause. We will try to answer questions like who are the Zapatista’s and what are the current developments?
