'WE ARE HERE' is group of refugees without papers, that wants to make the problems of the unseen visible. 'We Are Here' moved from the tent camp at Notweg to the Vluchtkerk, then to the Vluchtflat in Slotervaart. Since the 3rd of October 'we are here' @ the #Vluchtkantoor, in the heart of Amsterdam.
Since November 2012 the struggle for the freedom of movement and for human living conditions of refugees, sans papiers, non-citizens and people with a transnational background in amsterdam and elsewhere continues.
ON OCTOBER 24, VLUCHTKANTOOR RECEIVED AN EVICTION LETTER from the authorities acting on behalf of a housing company based in germany, stating that our current house at Weteringschans 109 is their property and that it will be evicted within the next few weeks.
If the evection is succesfull more than 200 refugee-activsts, some of whom with serious health issues will find themselves once again without shelter on the cold and rainy streets of Amsterdam in constant threat of deportation and police violence.
No one expects anything from the government as it frequently shows it's ugly face, by adopting new repressive laws against people with a transnational background, the kraaken-movement and the whole population with it's prison-system and the inherent physical and psychogical violence that everyone is facing on a day by day basis inside and outside of their institutions.
The attack against the Vluchtkantoor is part of a larger wave of repression against the kraaken movement and seen as part of the economies and governments attempt to repress self-determined ways of living.
EVERY ANTI-DISCRIMINATIVE INDIVIDUAL AND COLLECTIVE is therefore invited to participate in the struggle FOR THE FREEDOM OF MOVEMENT and SELF-DETERMINED LIVING CONDITIONS FOR ALL.

Hi Sankofa,
thank you far writing your call in English. Good that people who don´t read Dutch can get an idea of what´s going on in Amsterdam. It is improtant that many people become involved in supporting the self/organized movement of refugees/on/the/street in Holland. In many other European cities similar movements have grown in the last year.
Among the group We Are Here is a strong desire to connect Europe/wide and work together.
This is the reason that I have distributed your interesting call on our mailing list and on facebook Wij Zijn Hier.
I have one question. Did you publish your call in collaboration with the refugee/activists in the building where you propose to hold this meeting? It came as a surprise to many.
The position of We Are Here on supprt from outside is that everybody is welcome to help in a good way.
This means that nobody can speak for the refugees. And that we don´t want to break the law.
The strategy of We Are Here is soft power.
Shame and seduction.
Make visible the shame of cuurent migration politics.
Seduce people to show compassion, help us to surivve, demand solution and support our demonstration.

Some people have more privilege to speak then others? Or is Jo the so called leader?
