 Die Bürgerinitiative Umweltschutz Lüchow Dannenberg (BI) beklagt nach dem
Beinahe-GAU im schwedischen AKW Forsmark "erschreckend verharmlosende Reaktionen" der Parteien und hat zunächst dem Fraktionsvorsitzenden der Grünen ein mahnendes "Demo-Einsteiger-Paket" inklusive Farbsprühflaschen geschickt. Die BI bezieht sich damit auf den Kommentar von Fritz Kuhn: "Wenn Union und SPD auf die Idee kommen, wieder in die Atomwirtschaft einzusteigen, sehen wir uns auf dem Acker wieder.

Today an Israeli activist got shot in the head by a rubber bullet during a non-violent protest against the Palestinian Occupation. He will suffer serious lasting brain injury from his wounds. Zonow zal het nieuws vanuit een ander perspectief brengen.  Vandaag hebben de krakers een delegatie van gemeente Lingewaard op bezoek gehad. Doel van de bijeenkomst was het controleren van de al dan niet aanwezige bewoning van het complex. De gemeente had aangegeven dat eind deze week het fort leeg zou moeten worden opgeleverd. Op 11.8.06 vond er de rechtzaak plaats tegen 9 antifaschisten die gearresteerd waren op 27.05.06 vanwege het verstoren van een demonstratie van de faschistische Nationale Aliantie.

Rond 13.00 u haalde de bij de kapwerken op het Fort III in Borsbeek aanwezige politie, vermoedelijk op eigen initatief, een levensgevaarlijke stunt uit. Met behulp van een doodgewone ladder en een bijl zijn ze zonder zekering tot bij een laag gehangen hut geklommen en hebben deze uit de boom verwijderd. Deze morgen om 8.30u is men weer begonnen met het ontruimen bij Fort III in
Borsbeek. Het lijkt weer een gedeeltelijke ontruiming te gaan worden,
zes of zeven hutten tussen het stuk dat op woensdag ontruimd werd en het
kruisinkje tussen de wandelpaadjes bovenop het fort. Het zou dus om de helft
van het nog overblijvende actiekamp gaan. Deze keer wordt de aanwezigheid van
de veiligheidspersoon wel geaccepeerd op voorwaarde dat hij op 20 meter volgt.

 3500 people took part in the Rally today (5th of august) in Badwani. The important rally attracted villagers from allover the Narmada valley, activists and organizations from allover India and even from abroad. At the end of the rally a public meeting was held with speeches and songs. The protesters also handed over a letter of warning to the district collector, Arun Tiwari. The protesters wanted to know why the district collector did not take up his responsibility in proper rehabilitation for the victims of the Sardar Sarovar Dam. The district collector smiled, said nothing and returned into his guarded office. Around 5 pm a large bunch of protesters headed for the village of Chikalda (5 km away) to start the Satyagraha. Around 2000 villagers and supporters started the first Satyagraha with a small rally through the village towards the riverbanks. At the riverbank, speeches where held, lights were lid and a vow was made not to move but stay. The villagers are determined to live and face the rising water of the Narmada. Work on high-tension power lines outside a Swedish power station caused a short-circuit that cut its electricity supply and nearly caused a nuclear meltdown. The plant’s emergency batteries and diesel generators failed to take over.
