The entitlement and hypocrisy radiating from their letter is nausiating.
They claim to be doing this for the common people, while countless numbers of low wage workers that have lived in this city for generations are being pushed out by the rising cost of living, the squatters come in from abroad to a city they have no connection with taking up more of the allready scarce space and resources. How ironic they call the city Disneyland Amsterdam but they themselves are here for similar reasons as the hordes of tourists and expats. If they really just want a place to live as part of a community then why do they squat a building in the very centre of Amsterdam instead of moving to one of the many empty houses in places like Drenthe and Zeeland?
It's of course terrible that investors buy up houses and leave them empty just to make a profit, in a city that's in such dire need of affordable housing. it's infuriating. If these squatters were from the Jordaan, I would be celebrating them. But these are foreign squatters with no roots whatsoever in this community taking the space.
They feel so entitled to the resources of the city of Amsterdam , speaking like the representatives of the people, while they haven't even bothered to learn the local language. That's what hypocrisy looks like.
Yuck
