And *why* do you think these machines were not in use?
In addition, you missed the real importance of this action, it showed that a civil disobedience/ non-violent action - that has a lot of potential to grow into a mass movement- can be conducted succesfully. The action was *very* well planned, flawlessly conducted and got a relative large amount of media attention. It is a "proof of concept", that is were the real value is in my view.
