I bet every building has an 'intended purpose' from the point of view of law-makers, corporations and so-called authorities. The main purpose will always be: profit and control, no matter what it takes.
The tactics to challenge these purposes will differ from person to person, from group to group. Some groups may find it logic to address these issues while talking, other groups will find it logic that there is no sense in this and that tangible resistance is more appropriate. Fine - the more diverse a movement is (not only in composition, but also in ways of acting), the stronger it is.
Diverse actions will not kill the movement. Backstabbing and distancing will, though.
I agree with your last statement. And I add: there was a lot to win with the resistance at the Slangenpand, and a point has been clearly made.
