Queer It All is a day organised by AK-U (Anarchistisch Kollektief Utrecht) to handle queer topics in different ways. We hope to accomplish more connec
tions between the queer movement in the Netherlands and the anarchist/leftwing/activist scene.
PROGRAM
10.00 ACU open, coffee & tea
11.00 discussion: queer and family/upbringing
How can we (as parents, but also teachers, neighbours, or society in general) help kids to grow up in a 'queer' way? What are the possibilities to create alternative families and what are the problems within the legal system and public morality of today? (How) did our own upbringing influence our identities?
12.30 lunch
organic and vegan, for donation
13.30 discussion: queer - abandoned by the left, hijacked by the right? Introduction by Paul Mepschen
In many (western) countries there seems to be a connection between the queer- movement and the left/anarchist movement. In the Netherlands this doesn't really seem to be the case. Why is that and how can we combine these issues better? How can we put queer on the anarchist agenda and place queer-activism in a broader perspective of struggle?
In the last few years the defending of women's and gay (although not 'queer' as in our definition) rights have been misused by the right in their ongoing discourse against migrants and Islam.
Moreover 'gays' are being commercialised and portreted as overconsuming party-animals.
How can we confront this 'homonationalism', fight against the right-wing and commercial agenda behind it and reclaim queer as part of the left-wing/anarchist struggle?
16.00 theater: Filter by Mamaliga
In Dutch, but especially interesting and maybe recognisable for newcomers that do understand the language a bit. A view on the narrowminded, sexist, racist, right-wing Netherlands where gays are seen as walking wallets and refugees are put in prisons, told by a Romanian girl through her Greek friend. www.mamaliga.nl/filter
17.00 action-brainstorm with emphasis on Roze Zaterdag (‘Pink Saturday’) in Utrecht in 2013.
Roze Zaterdag used to be a yearly organised radical demonstration for gay rights, but turned into an unpolitical, commercial happening. In 2013 it will be organised in Utrecht and we want to look at ways to use this day for radical action and/or an alternative program.
