"The night of March 7th, 2012 there was a call out for a non mixed feminist demonstration in Barcelona (inside the " Feminist Autonomous Action Days: Se Va a Armar la Gorda"). The action was attended by around 350 women, lesbians and transgender activists.
The point of this demonstration was to reclaim the streets, to make visible our bodies, our struggles, our sexualities and our capacity for action; to put in common our knowledge and our self-managed practices; to agitate the public space that is sistematically denied to us and to take over our side in the barricades of social conflict.
Once the night demonstration was over, secret police officers from Mossos d'Esquadra (the infamous Catalan cops) chased and identified around 20 comrades. While the repressive process goes on, there are already several people facing very serious economical sentences, considering they are being judged just for having allegedly made 1 or 2 graffiti in the public space.
All of this is happening in the context of a bankrupt Spain, where the democratic regime is quickly showing its true face in an open social war against any kind of protest, going back to forms of mass control and repression not seen since Franco's dictatorship, while cutting off the last remnants of the welfare state. If all of this was not enough, the new anti-avortion law to come, promoted by the catholic right wing government, will push women's rights 50 years back, criminalizing avortion in any case (even if it's detected the fetus has malformations).
For this reason we make a solidarity call out to be able to face the expenses of the legal prosecutions, convictions and fines imposed on us.
The struggle goes on: our bodies, our choice!"
