This comes as no suprise, yet I am mad as hell. The song KILL THE CHILDREN, that I wrote on October 19 2023 and home recorded and published (with subtitles of the lyrics) on October 28, has been removed by Youtube. Youtube claims it contains hatespeech (check screenshot of the e-mail). It turned out to be possible to a appeal this decision, which meant no more than hit the button 'appeal'. It was not possible to motivate this appeal. Today the appeal was denied claiming the same slanderous lie: hatespeech (check screenshot of second e-mail). The question at the end: "Was this e-mail helpful?" I checked 'NO'. "Do you want to add something to that?" Well...

"I do. You do not let me motivate my appeal and then you come to this outrageous and scandalous censorship decision. This has nothing to do with hate speech. This has everything to do with you supporting the Israeli apartheidsregime committing genocide on the Palestinian people. Note that 'Kill The Children' is a song about the IDF bombing children to death continuously and also refers to 75 years of settler occupation and it's violence. That is what the song is about. Which side are you on? The wrong one."

Why I wrote this song?

It is clear that:
1. This is yet another Nakba. The zionist aparheidsregime is determined to kill and/or expell all Palestinians from the land since it has occupied Palestine by extreme force in 1948, when the first Nakba took place.
2. The zionist apartheidsregime arms setllers to help the IDF to do so.
3. The Western world, the USA, European countries, Australie: they all support the zionist apartheidsregime, simply because they know what it's like to preserve and expand their colonialism up to this very day.
4. The Western media, including the social media platforms, do everything in their power to silence and censor opposition and spread zionist propaganda.

But also:
1. Many people oppose and fight this apartheidsregime. The zionist apartheidsregime is opposed by many Jewish people as well.
2. A song is a means of spreading truth and solidarity in a way that is easy to grasp and to spread.

Again, the censorship of a single song in solidarity with Palestine comes as no suprise. Apparently, it hit a nerve. Good!
Clearly, it is by no means as horrible as the genocide in Gaza itself, but it is silencing one of the many voices that speak up against it. This censorship is part of propaganda that is supposed to silence even more voices, so that the Palestinian people can be eradicated without opposition.

This will fail.

But: we need to NOT depend on media that is not our own. This is no news. We need to spread information through our own channels, build new channels. As far as this song is concerned: it's just a one person way of saying: Stop the genocide. From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free! But the silencing of one person is symptomatic. If we let this slide, who's next?

YOUTUBE CENSUREERT EN VERWIJDERT LIED OVER GENOCIDE OP PALESTIJNEN

Samenvatting:
- Lied KILL THE CHILDREN, van Joke Kaviaar, gepubliceerd op Youtube op 28 oktober 2023, is verwijderd op 10 november 2023 met de bewering dat hate speech bevat.
- Beroep tegen deze censuur kon niet worden gemotiveerd en wordt op 11 november 2023 afgewezen.

Dit komt niet als een verrassing, maar toch ben ik razend. Het lied KILL THE CHILDREN, dat ik op 19 oktober 2023 schreef en op 28 oktober thuis opnam en publiceerde (met ondertiteling van de tekst), is door Youtube verwijderd. Youtube beweert dat het hate speech bevat (zie screenshot van de e-mail). Tegen deze beslissing bleek appeal mogelijk te zijn, wat niet meer betekende dan op de knop 'appeal' klikken. Het was niet mogelijk dit appeal te motiveren. Vandaag werd het appeal afgewezen op grond van dezelfde lasterlijke leugen: hate speech (zie screenshot van tweede e-mail). De vraag aan het einde: "Was deze e-mail nuttig?" Ik heb 'N0' aangevinkt. "Wil je daar iets aan toevoegen?" Goed...

“Dat wil ik. U laat mij mijn appeal niet motiveren en dan komt u tot dit buitensporige en schandalige censuurbesluit. Dit heeft niets te maken met hate speech. Dit heeft er alles mee te maken dat u het Israëlische apartheidsregime steunt dat genocide pleegt op het Palestijnse volk. Merk op dat 'Kill The Children' een lied is over de IDF die voortdurend kinderen dood bombardeert en ook verwijst naar 75 jaar kolonistenbezetting en het bijbehorende geweld. Daar gaat het lied over. Aan welke kant staan jullie? De verkeerde."

Waarom ik dit lied schreef?

Het is duidelijk:
1. Dit is weer een Nakba. Het zionistische aparheidsregime is vastbesloten alle Palestijnen te doden en/of uit het land te verdrijven sinds het Palestina in 1948 met extreem geweld heeft bezet, toen de eerste Nakba plaatsvond.
2. Het zionistische apartheidsregime bewapent kolonisten om de IDF hierbij te helpen.
3. De westerse wereld, de VS, Europese landen, Australië: ze steunen allemaal het zionistische apartheidsregime, simpelweg omdat ze weten hoe het is om hun kolonialisme tot op de dag van vandaag te behouden en uit te breiden.
4. De westerse media, inclusief de sociale mediaplatforms, doen er alles aan om de oppositie het zwijgen op te leggen en te censureren en de zionistische propaganda te verspreiden.

Maar ook:
1. Veel mensen verzetten zich tegen dit apartheidsregime en bestrijden het. Het zionistische apartheidsregime wordt ook door veel Joodse mensen bestreden.
2. Een lied is een middel om waarheid en solidariteit te verspreiden op een manier die gemakkelijk te begrijpen en te verspreiden is.

Nog eens: de censuur van een enkel lied uit solidariteit met Palestina komt niet als een verrassing. Blijkbaar raakte het een gevoelige snaar. Goed!
Vanzelfsprekend is dit lang niet zo verschrikkelijk als de genocide in Gaza zelf, maar het legt een van de vele stemmen die zich ertegen uitspreken het zwijgen op. Deze censuur maakt deel uit van propaganda die nog meer stemmen tot zwijgen moet brengen, zodat het Palestijnse volk zonder tegenstand kan worden uitgeroeid.

Dit zal mislukken.

Maar: we moeten NIET afhankelijk zijn van media die niet de onze zijn. Dit is geen nieuws. We moeten informatie verspreiden via onze eigen kanalen, nieuwe kanalen bouwen. Wat dit lied betreft: het is slechts een manier van één persoon om te zeggen: stop de genocide. Van de rivier tot de zee, Palestina zal vrij zijn! Maar het tot zwijgen brengen van één persoon is symptomatisch. Als we dit laten passeren, wie is de volgende?

Je kunt helpen de censuur te bestrijden door dit lied (en ander materiaal, of het nu gaat om informatie, kunst, muziek, welke manier dan ook verzet wordt geuit en opgeroepen) zelf te verspreiden. Het nummer is - net als al mijn andere werk - copyleft, vrij van auteursrechten en met een Creative Commons-licentie. Doe ermee wat je wilt.
