Call to action

We are organizing an international hunger strike in solidarity with the Italian anti-fascists. In particular Alfredo Cospito who is currently on hunger strike for over 128 days. Read more about him and the reason for this action of solidarity.

Call to Action!

On the 25th of February, 82 years ago, the workers of Amsterdam started a strike that would grow into the first large scale anti-nazi resistance action in the Netherlands. This action spread fast throughout the Netherlands and received large amounts of solidarity across the region.

Every year we commemorate this act of solidarity as "De Februaristaking" literally translated to The February strike. Each year we affirm our resistance and solidarity against fascism. Now it's our time to show this solidarity and put words to action.

At this commemoration we called for an international hunger strike for the following reasons.

We are seeing the rebirth of fascism in Italy and the repression of those acting to fight this new fascistic regime. Their struggle grows daily. For example, the anti-fascist anarchist Alfredo Cospito who is currently being held in the 41bis prison system.

Alfredo feels his imprisonment in this system is unjust and is currently on a hunger strike that has now lasted 128 days. His doctors are seeing his health decreasing rapidly. We are worried for his survival. The trial has already been moved closer because of the of his doctors concerns.

He is being held for encouraging the world to pick up the armed fight against repression. Cospito is being held in complete isolation; meaning no contact with fellow prisoners. This method was initially designed to deal with the worst of the Italian Mafia.

We therefore join our voices with those that already demand for his release and an end to the repressive inhumane 41-bis prison system. To show our strong sense of solidarity and to support the Italian anti-fascists and anarchists struggle, specifically Alfredo's fight for life, we call for an international 24 hour hunger strike on March first!

To show your solidarity post a photo of a paper with the following text: "In solidarity with the Italian struggle against fascism, I declare a 24 hour hunger strike on the first of March " to your social media with the following hashtags: "#againstallprisons #against41bis #solidaritywithcospito"

To call attention to this day spread this message: discuss it, make art, sing songs, march into the streets. Whatever helps big or small.
