(english below)

ENGLISH

Following the news, we went to see for ourselves last Friday at the application centre. On the basis of the shortages and supplies, we went into action and started mobilising to cook and collect donations. We cooked in Groningen and because the need still seemed high on Saturday, there was talk of an action kitchen in Ter Apel from Sunday. However, about 10 full busses of people left Ter Apel on Saturday, so the biggest crisis was moved. Despite the fact that we did not do an action kitchen, many meals, care products and children's entertainment were brought.

This solidarity was set up as an emergency action, but out of ignorance it actually came too late. We would like to see a national refugee solidarity network for the longer term. This action (including a possible action kitchen within 24 hours) is a good example of autonomous mutual aid within a very short time. Most important is that people start taking initiative and responsibility. The weekend is only a small image of the crisis in days before, Saturday there was less need because of moving people to other locations. Nevertheless, Saturday still saw a lot of new people who came - and hungry ones who were already there - fed.

We raised more money than expected, which also opens up more possibilities. The WhyDonate has been stopped for now. Donations of stuff can be done until Friday (before Kraaienest voku), in the weekend it will be brought to Ter Apel. We are still looking for people who can help with more structural help for the longer term, please contact autonomous collective de Schop (deschop@riseup.net). If you want to start solidarity outside Groningen, we can also discuss tips or coordination. For example, comrades of the Vrije Bond Friesland will cook for AZC Leeuwarden.
We get a lot of questions from people about how they can help, but we think it's even more important that groups organise themselves in their neighbourhood instead of coming to us in Groningen. For example, there are locations in Utrecht and Limburg where asylum seekers have been brought. Contact haas@riseup.net if you want to set up a solidarity action yourself and would like to get in touch. For example, part of the donated money is good for this.

The problem now seems to be spread all over the country, but that does not mean that there cannot be a similar crisis in the near future. Because people have been relocated, there no longer seems to be a need, although it is still there. Self-organisation in several places in the country is needed. We did it, you can do it too!

If we want a world without borders, repression and apathy, we cannot rely on other organisations and institutions. Do it yourself, do it together! We have to connect migration, colonialism, ecological crisis and urban resistance like squatting. As migration and the ecological crisis become more clearly interrelated, obtaining housing for and by undocumented migrants and anti-capitalist direct action to do so often deserve more attention. The perspective is that more people will have to flee because of imperial wars, colonial exploitation, oppression, ecocide, or whatever reason, so in the long run refugee solidarity will remain necessary (the IPCC has estimated that there could be 150 million climate refugees by 2050). The problems this creates are not caused by these people, but by systems that were already there. A social revolution is therefore more useful than current state policies and misplaced hatred.
Western economies rely heavily on cheap labour from migrants, but governments make migration a repressive and bureaucratic process. While states often keep migrants in precarious conditions and poverty, direct action and solidarity help them take back their lives in the way they want.
