Update over de campagne van Ferrominera arbeider Rodney Alvarez, die in Venezuela gevangen zit voor een misdaad die hij niet heeft begaan.
Zoals wij aan het begin van deze campagne hebben vermeld, heeft de Venezolaanse staat het proces tegen deze arbeider, tien jaar lang vertraagd door een procedureel uitstel toe te passen wegens gebrek aan bewijs dat Rodney Alvarez schuldig was aan de misdaad die is begaan aan de poorten van de fabriek waar een arbeider dodelijk werd verwond. Op die dag werd de PSUV bureaucraat Maican gevangen genomen met een pistool in zijn hand. Hij is ook geregistreed op de beveiligingscamera's bij de ingang van de fabriek.
De IACHR en de IAO dringen er bij de regering van Nicolas Maduro op aan verantwoording af te leggen voor de meer dan 100 arbeiders die zonder proces en met procedurele vertragingen gevangen zijn gezet, ook naast de vele moorden die door de politie en de para-politie zelf zijn gepleegd. Een van hen is Rodney Alvarez. Een symbolisch en representatief geval, aangezien hij al 10 jaar ten onrechte gevangen zit, ver van zijn familie en vrienden.
Rodney werd schuldig bevonden in een proces vol inconsistenties en waarbij het aanvankelijke rapport van de ballistische forensische deskundigen werd gewijzigd. Hij werd aangeklaagd in een snelrechtzaak na 10 jaar gebrek aan bewijs. Een fraude. Een in scène gezet proces om de internationale druk van de IAO en de IACHR te laten zien dat ze worden opgelost en om het gezicht van het regime van de tiran Maduro en zijn militaire trawanten schoon te vegen.
Duizenden arbeiders uit de staat Guayana toonden hun solidariteit met Rodney Alvarez. In Caracas heeft de werkgroep voor de vrijlating van de gedetineerde arbeiders activiteiten gevoerd voor het TSJ en is aanwezig geweest in de rechtbanken. Het begeleiden van slachtoffers zoals Rodney en hun families, maar ook vele anderen die gevangen zitten omdat ze arbeidsrechten opeisten, hun mening gaven over het Maduro-regime, protesteerden tegen de hongerlonen van het Madurista socialisme en omdat ze de waarheid spraken binnen de kantoren; het regime van Nicolas Maduro is diep militair en daarom anti-arbeider en hongerlijdend.

Actualización sobre el estado del obrero de Ferrominera Rodney Alvarez; preso en Venezuela por un crimen que no cometió.
Como habíamos mencionado al inicio de esta campaña; durante 10 años el Estado Venezolano retraso el juicio de este trabajador aplicando un retraso procesal frente a la falta de pruebas que demostraran que Rodney Alvarez era culpable de aquel crimen cometido a las puertas de la fabrica donde resultara herido mortalmente un trabajador. Aquel día fue capturado el burócrata del PSUV Maican con la pistola en la mano. También fue registrado en las cámaras de seguridad de la entrada a la fabrica.
La CIDH y la OIT están presionando al Gobierno de Nicolas Maduro para que rinda cuentas sobre los mas de 100 trabajadores encarcelados sin juicios y con retrasos procesales ademas de los muchos asesinatos cometidos por los propios cuerpos policiales y parapoliciales. Entre ellos se encuentra Rodney Alvarez. Un caso por demás simbólico y representativo ya que son 10 años de injusto encierro, alejado de sus familiares y amigos.
Rodney fue declarado culpable en un juicio lleno de incongruencias y donde se altero el informe inicial de los forenses de balística. Fue inculpado en un juicio rápido luego de 10 años de falta de evidencia. Un fraude. Un juicio montaje para mostrar a la presión internacional que hace la OIT y la CIDH que se están resolviendo y limpiar el rostro del régimen del tirano Maduro y sus secuaces militares.
Miles de trabajadores desde el Estado Guayana demostraron su solidaridad con Rodney Alvarez. En Caracas, el grupo de trabajo para la liberación de los trabajadores presos, ha realizado actividades frente al TSJ y ha hecho acto de presencia en los tribunales. Acompañando a victimas como Rodney y sus familias pero también a otros tantos encarcelados por reivindicar derechos laborales, dar su opinión sobre el régimen Madurista, protestar contra los salarios de hambre del socialismo bolivariano y por decir esta verdad dentro de las oficinas; el régimen de Nicolas Maduro es profundamente militar y por lo tanto anti-obrero y hambreador.
