From smartphones to smart home to smart cities, digitalization seems to be entering all spheres of our lives and our agri-food system is no exception to this. Digitalization of agriculture is increasingly advancing and "smart agriculture" is often marketed as a solution to address climate change related problems. If you also want to learn and discuss more about digital agriculture and its implications then join us for our upcoming reading group!
This time we will be reading:
• Reclaiming the Future of Food: - Challenging the Dematerialization of Food Systems by Marcos Ezequiel Filardi and Stefano Prato (Right to Food and Nutrition Watch )
• Digital control - How Big Tech moves into food and farming (and what it means) by GRAIN
• Short excerpt from the Nyéléni Newsletter No. 37: The digitalization of the food system
And check out these examples of farming robots: https://farm.bot & https://www.rowbot.com.
If you want to participate you can contact alina[at]aseed[dot]net to reserve a spot. Keep in mind, that even if we are meeting online, we want to keep the group small to enable a fruitful discussion so the max. amount of participants are 16 people. Once you have signed up we will send you the readings for this session and also later the zoom link to join the event. No previous knowledge is required, anyone who joins can have valuable insights
