BURE’S WIND: NEXT STOP NANCY THE 1ST AND 2ND JUNE!

We, collective of associations from Lorraine and inhabitants resisting for almost 25 years against Bure’s giant nuclear dump, call for everyone from France and beyond that feel concerned by Bure fight and want to understand what’s happening, to come to Nancy, saturday 1st and sunday 2nd of June

Bure – a small part of the Departement of Meuse – is supposed to become one of Europe’s largest industrial projects: In a construction site going on for 130 years, 300 km (185 miles) of tunnels are supposed to be built for the storage of 85,000m3 (535,000 barrel) of nuclear waste 500m (1650ft) underneath the ground for the next 100,000 years – guaranteed risk-free.
There are real risks behind those abstract numbers: fires, explosions, contamination, massive ejections. For 25 years, the nuclear lobby and the state have been advertising for the project by making the local population serve as their guinea pigs and silencing elected representatives with a 1-billion legal corruption.

Since summer 2017, the carrot turned into a stick with a wave of repressive measures and criminalization unprecedented in the modern history of territories in struggle – 60 trials, 28 refusals of the right to stay, several jail sentences, dozens suspended sentences, and an investigation for « criminal association » preventing 9 people to see each other. The CIGÉO hole needs to be digged whatever the cost, even if it means burying a few opponents with the nuclear wastes.

Despite all this, we are more determined than ever in standing up against this environmental, social and ethical heresy. We are all driven by the determination to halt this ominous project and raise our voices against this machine of destruction. Facing omerta and silence, our voices scream, whisper, laugh, call out and shout that they will not stay quiet. We refuse both radioactive and tear gas clouds.

We stand up but sometimes embers need to be revived in order to get back to the heat of a collective force: good! We have breath and so do you!

In front of this brutal wave of repressive measures and militarization in Bure, and after the eviction of the Bois Lejuc occupied until February 2018, we need new grips and step aside, to look for ascending flows. The Bure struggle arouses regional, national and international stakes. We are all concerned. For a start, we let ourselves pushed by the Wind to Nancy, still spared today but that would have a ringside seat in case of radioactive leaks : it is located barely 50 kilometers east, below the prevailing wind.

Just like radioactivity, wind has no smell and is invisible. We choose today’s wind of Bure over the threatening gusts of tomorrow which would irradiate us quietly. During that weekend, let’s make it beautiful and perceptible: kites, balloons and our combined imaginations will represent all these invisible forces.

Storms are raging against state and corporate power all over the world these days. Storms that seek to sweep away those who by all means hold onto a system that is raging merciless war against all forms of life and is destroying the climate in the name of profit. But in an even more hostile political context, the repressive and authoritarian storm strikes increasingly hard.

Behind this call-out, there’s the need to breathe together and make space for a different wind to blow, the undertow of a whole territory. The one blowing against CIGEO and its world, this world allowing it, and the one even more devastated that it would induce. In order to organize this panting society transformation, we drape ourselves with all the colors in the world.

Let’s blow a headwind: Saturday night the 1st, join the feast and the great « Criminal ball » ! But be careful and keep some energy : Sunday the 2nd, let’s gather massively to protest, respond to the authoritarian spiral and the arrogant self-confidence of the nuclear industry and show that we’re still here!

The power relationship has to be ceaselessly renewed : as our wind blows, CIGÉO goes…away!

VENT DE BURE : CAP SUR NANCY LE 1ER ET 2 JUIN !

Nous, collectif d’associations, de comités de soutien lorrains et d’habitant-es résistant depuis près de 25 ans contre la méga-poubelle nucléaire de Bure, appelons à converger massivement à Nancy, samedi 1er et dimanche 2 juin, toutes celles et ceux qui partout en France et au-delà se sentent touché-e-s et concerné-e-s par la lutte de Bure, toutes celles et ceux qui s’interrogent, veulent comprendre ce qui s’y trame !

Bure, c’est un petit bout de Meuse pour l’un des plus gros projet industriel européen : enfouir 85000 m3 des pires déchets radioactifs dans 300 kms de galeries, à 500 m sous terre. 130 ans de chantier, garanti sans risque pour 100 000 ans ! Derrière ces chiffres abstraits, des risques réels : explosions, incendies, contaminations, rejets massifs. Depuis 25 ans, pour faire accepter ce projet, État et nucléocrates cherchent à l’imposer en faisant de la population locale leur cobaye et en faisant taire les élu-es à coup de corruption légale d’un milliards d’euros.

Depuis l’été 2017, la carotte s’est transformée en bâton avec une vague de répression et de criminalisation inédite dans l’histoire récente des territoires en lutte – 60 procès, 28 interdictions de territoires, plusieurs peines de prison ferme, des dizaines de mois de sursis, et une instruction pour « association de malfaiteurs » qui empêche 9 personne de se voir. Coûte que coûte, le trou de Cigéo doit se creuser, quitte à y enfouir quelques opposants avec les déchets nucléaires.

Néanmoins, nous nous élevons plus que jamais face à cette hérésie sociale éthique et environnementale. Toutes et tous, nous sommes animé-es par la détermination à enrayer ce sinistre projet et de porter nos voix contre cette machine de destruction. Face à l’omerta et au silence, nos voix crient, murmurent, rient, interpellent, hurlent qu’elles ne se tairont pas. Nous refusons à la fois les nuages radioactifs et ceux des lacrymos.

Nous sommes debout, mais parfois les braises ont besoin d’être ravivées pour retrouver la chaleur d’une force collective : tant mieux, du souffle, nous en avons et vous aussi !

Face à cette vague brutale de répression et de militarisation à Bure, et après l’expulsion du bois Lejuc occupé jusqu’en février 2018, il nous faut trouver de nouvelles prises, faire un pas de côté, chercher des courants ascendants. La lutte de Bure soulève des enjeux régionaux, nationaux, et internationaux. Nous sommes tous concerné-e-s. Pour commencer, nous nous sommes donc laissé-es pousser par le Vent jusqu’à Nancy, encore épargnée aujourd’hui, qui serait aux premières loges des rejets radioactifs : elle se situe dans l’axe des vents dominants, en plein est de Bure, à à peine 50 kms à vol d’oiseau.

Comme la radioactivité, le vent est invisible, inodore. Nous, nous préférons le Vent de Bure d’aujourd’hui à celui qui demain nous irradierait en silence. Lors du week-end, n’hésitons pas à le rendre beau et perceptible : cerfs-volants, ballons et le fruits de nos imaginations réunies représenteront toutes ces forces invisibles.

Partout dans le monde aujourd’hui, des bourrasques soufflent pour tenter de balayer l’oligarchie politico-financière qui s’accroche par tous les moyens à un système qui mène une guerre sans merci au vivant, détruit les vies et détraque le climat au nom du profit. Mais dans un contexte politique toujours plus hostile, la tempête répressive et autoritaire rugit de plus en plus fort.

Derrière cet appel, le besoin de respirer et souffler ensemble, celui de tout un territoire qui se soulève, qui veut faire corps pour s’opposer à Cigéo et à son monde : celui qui le permet, et celui, plus ravagé encore, qu’il laisserait. Pour organiser la transformation de cette société à bout de souffle, nous nous parons de toutes les couleurs du monde.

Faisons souffler un vent contraire et mélangeons nos souffles : samedi 1er au soir rejoignez le banquet et le grand « Bal des Malfaiteur-es » ! Mais attention à ne pas y perdre toutes vos plumes et à garder de l’énergie pour le lendemain : dimanche 2 juin, rassemblons nous massivement pour manifester, répondre à la spirale autoritaire et à l’assurance arrogante de l’industrie nucléaire et montrer que nous sommes encore là, debout !

Le rapport de force est à renouveler sans cesse : dès que notre vent soufflera, Cigéo s’en ira !
