On the Birthday of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights “Everyone has the right to life, liberty and security of person.” (Article 3)
On Saturday December 10, we meet at 11.00h at the Wereldhuis (Nieuwe Herengracht 20, Amsterdam) to march through the city to inform the mayor, court, and people of Amsterdam that the best birthday gift to this Declaration would be to truly protect the universal rights of all human beings.
The Universal Declaration of Human Rights was adopted on 10 December 1948 by the General Assembly of the United Nations.
Today, the Dutch government is not able to find a solution to guarantee the basic human rights of undocumented migrants.
There are many people all over the world – and in the Netherlands as well! – who do not find their basic rights protected. Everyone has the equal right to the protection of their universal rights, but unfortunately we can still find nation states who do not take up the responsibility to protect these rights. From Aleppo to Amsterdam we find humans whose right to security, migration, freedom, labor is not granted. Normal life is far away.
As supporters of all refused refugees that form together WE ARE HERE we will show our respect for their rights and their fights. And join them until we reach a solution for all.
We come together on Saturday 10th of December, 11.00h at the World House (Nieuwe Herengracht 18, 1018 DP Amsterdam) and from there we move together.
