Freedom Fighters 5 squat Rozbrat (Poland)

On 23.05.2015 fifth edition of Freedom Fighters league took place on Poznań's Rozbrat squat.
It need to be mentioned, expectations and interest were very high. The fights took place for the first time on a ring profesionally done by our friends from "No Defeats" tournament from Wrocław and it made all fights look more spectacular, also muay thai style was possible to introduce. Overally there were 19 fights: 8 K-1 rules, 5 muay thai, 2 boxing, 3 brazilian jiu-jitsu (gi) and one grappling. Fighters came from all over Poland, and also Berliners (mostly from anti-racist club Rapace) and fighters form Hamburg appeared. It was biggest number of fight so far, and few fighters were left without an opponent unfortunately. Sport level was high and numerous (more than 200) audience cheered the fighters with applause and friendly support. Few pairs of fighters decided to fight with no helmets, and accompanied with high technical level made their fights most spectacular. This time there were numerous fights ended with KO and TKO's and the ring had to be cleaned off blood few times, luckily apart from cut eyebrow and few smashed noses there were no serious injuries. Special honour goes to the fighter who decided to fight for second time despite having eyebrow cut and other that due to lack of MMA opponent decided (and won) to fight under K-1 rules. Great grappling fight was given by proffesional fighter Jesse-Bjorn Buckler (MMA 13-8-0). Like always, fighters got same, custom made medals
Special guest of Freedom Fighters #5 was legendary fighter and a coach Peter Irving (MMA 15-8-1). Well known from last year's seminar Pete was refereeing part of fights, and day after gave 4 hour muay thai seminar where both beginners and Poland's, Europe's champions and profesional fighters trained angle and footwork, fighting opposite stance and typical thai clinch. Apart from that Pete willingly helped with ring preparations and weight-in. It's worth to repeat, coach of fighters with contracts and titles of such promotions as Cage Warriors and UFC made it all for free, as a solidarity act. Titan with iron chin, silver teeth and golden heart :)
