Can you feel it in your stomach? The first wave of 2012 will hit Amsterdam on the end of this month!
In solidarity with the people on the eviction list a banner has been dropped from the empty house on the Rapenburg 28F. As usual most of the houses on the eviction list are owned by housing corporations. A good reason to give them some special attention the upcoming days.
For the eviction day, we wish the people on the list a good day of resistance, solidarity and chaos.

Vorig jaar is het pand er naast gekraakt, tegen het asociale beleid dat gevoerd wordt door Ymere om sociale huisvestiging te laten verdwijnen in Amsterdam. Al jaren verdwijnen er sociale huurwoningen in de binnenstad, zij worden vervangen voor koophuizen en vrije sector huurwoningen. Dit wordt ook wel het zogeheten “Afbraakbeleid” genoemd. Dit beleid speelt al jaren in Amsterdam. Woningbouwcorporaties zoals Ymere zorgen ervoor dat sociale huurwoningen verkocht worden of in de vrije sector worden gezet. Amsterdam wilde tot 2007 in totaal 28 duizend van deze woningen verkopen. Daarnaast worden nog eens duizenden sociale woningen samengevoegd, te duur gerenoveerd of gesloopt.
