Most of the members of We Are Here currently living at the former prison in the Havenstraat in Amsterdam had to leave the building past June 1st. Which they didn't and following to that the city subpoenaed everyone. The case will take place coming Friday, June 13, 13.30h. at the court of Amsterdam, Parnassusweg 220. The lawyer Pim Fischer is preparing for a strong plea for access to human basic necessaries for everyone.
The group of establishers "We Are Here" are decided not leave the government building , Havenstraat.
"here is the place to know our destiny clearly" We signed agreement in vluchtkantoor for two things:
1/ Those of who can lead their life in Nederland must clearly confirmed and told.
2/ Those of who can go back and will go back must be clearly assisted and taken to their country !
We dont need any body of the member from we are here left on street again. We are a known group. We fight more than two year to get "reasonable solutions", "we need normal life. Azc is not a solution, how many individuals are left on street again after two, three or five years in Azc after HASA. For most of the refugees, their country is still not safe and their visiblity and exposure to media, their asylum case is exposed to different media due to their participation of politics in their country, "We are here" are different groups ,their photo are known to international media like BBC, Amnesty international, CNN and media and spyware, and spying individuals of their country. For "refugee surface" is simple those who proved risky in their land, so IND knows well. So how long can we stay like these miserable life? Detention is not a solution, street life is also not a solution.

At the moment the cities' proposal is to prolong shelter to a few apointed subgroups, in different locations:
- 9 (or so) people that are thinking about migrating from the Netherlands
- people that stated to be too vulnerable because of health problems are invited to give their medical records to the city and the GGD and then they will go through a screening to see if they are so sick that they need to be in a hospital or a psychiatric institution because of a crisis situation. for this screening they will take a couple of weeks (at a different location than the Havenstraat) and most likely all or almost all will hear hospitalization is not necessary and from there on they will also end up on the streets again.
- people that have already submitted a new asylum request can, if the request will be taken into consideration (needed for that is new proof or circumstances that couldn't be presented before), stay in Ter Apel (which is actually the usual procedure)
All the others should leave the Havenstraat according to the city.
The people from the Havenstraat welcome all to support them during the court case and if necessary afterwards. They are tired of and angry about still not being offered a serious solution by the authorities.
