Sinds 23 mei zijn ongeveer 430 ongedocumenteerde mensen in hongerstaking in Brussel. Vandaag, maandag 12 juli, telt het aantal dagen van de hongerstaking 50 dagen. De eis van de hongerstakers, die onderdeel zijn van de groep USPR (L’Union des Sans Papiers pour la Regularisation) is een verblijfsvergunning. Tijdens de coronacrisis zijn ze hun werk kwijtgeraakt zonder enige compensatie of rechten. Vier hongerstakers hebben hun mond dichtgenaaid in protest. Sommige hongerstakers zijn al 15 jaar in België.
