To claim or not? And where?
nn4 - 26.04.2010 14:04

People disagree. They do something which others deem illegal or dangerous. Then they go on-line and brag about their acts, without revealing their identities. Why is that (not) the best scenario?

Great that you're obstructing the building of a new detention center, put a McDonald on fire or hacked a bank and put millions of money on the accounts of cool organizations.

But why are you publishing about it? Is it to inspire more people? Great! Where are you publishing? Maybe it's too much of a hassle to send a letter or an e-mail to corporate media, if they'd publish it it will end up between the weather and the sports, somewhere at page 19, no-one will read it. Your target audience, the ones that might be inspired, are not reading newspapers anyway. But the internet has loads of possibilties to publish your story. Facebook, blogger.com...

But wait, the consequences!
They have great logs and forms for cops and intelligence services to hand them all the data: ips, e-mailaddresses, getting an insight in the social networks... So you're using some alternative website? Or send it to some paper zines?

What are the consequences for people making these projects possible? Their homes get searched, they get arrested and questioned, have to pay lawyers, .... they get into a whole lot of trouble to make your post possible.

So what's your idea to improve their situation? How can people get as much information as possible without or with as little hassle as possible? How can you persuade the people making your outreach possible to care for you to protect you and to eat all your shit?

outreach

maybe it is the responsibility of the movement to make sure that militant groups don't get isolated. If everyone speaks about the actions, no one can be prosecuted. also collectives within the movement can take it upon them to spread the news posted by the militant groups to the corporate media and internet so that the groups don't risk exposure.

A movement should be there to show solidarity and make discussion possible without immediate rejection from certain types of actions because they are afraid of repression.

you sounds like if there woulod be a distinction between the 'revolutionairy avantgarde' and 'the others' who should just support , i think this is somekind of stupid marxist or maoist idea , the strugle is only effective if its colletive not when the whole movement is pushed in a certain direction by a smal sect of 'true revolutionaries' ... small sectarian strugles make you only more vulnerable to the st(rategy of tension and other state provocations .

What i suggested was actual the opposite. I'm strongly against an avant garde or elite militant group and indeed that is marxist. my suggestion was about how to involve a whole spectrum of tacktics, including militant actions, in a way that groups don't become avant garde like the RAF. To create a clandestine culture in which al forms of actions can be discussed and criticised. This is necessary so that the group doesn't get isolated and starts to see itself as avant garde, although this is also the responsibility of the group itself.

The main point is that we as a movement need to find a way to break out of the fear of talking about these kind of things, because of the repression. For that, thank you for starting this discussion. but maybe indymedia is not the place for this discoussion and you could Wright an article for olieophetvuur or kraak froum. Preferably the first one.
