Verbindingsblok in staat van ontbinding

De meeste ramen zijn dicht geverfd, het eetcafé oogt als gesloten. Veel van de bewoners hebben hun meest kostbare bezit inmiddels verhuisd. Mogelijk deze week maakt de ME een einde aan de gekraakte status van het Verbindingsblok in de Amsterdamse Pijp.
De gekraakte enclave, ingesloten door de Rustenburgerstraat, Verbindingsstraat en de Kuipersstraat, zal mogelijk aanstaande dinsdag ontruimd worden. De eigenaar van de panden, woningstichting Eigen Haard, heeft via de rechtbank een ontruimingsvonnis in handen gekregen. Na de ontruiming zal het aanwezige asbest verwijderd worden, waarna sloop volgt.
Afgelopen vrijdag hebben de vrijwilligers van eetcafé EigenAardig nog gekookt voor een grote groep belangstellenden. Het kraakbolwerk is gefaseerd ontstaan: zodra huurders of kraakwachten hun boeltje hadden gepakt, werden de vrij gekomen etages gekraakt. Dat begon al in de jaren '90. Het Verbindingsblok bestaat momenteel tijd uit dertig kraakwoningen.
Van meet af aan hebben de krakers, samen met de kraakgroep in de Pijp, alles in het werk gezet om de dreigende sloop van de sociale huurwoningen tegen te gaan. Er werd actie gevoerd bij Eigen Haard, er werden informatiebijeenkomsten voor buurtbewoners belegd, en vorig jaar stelde een architect zelfs een alternatief renovatieplan op waarmee een deel van de woningen behouden bleef voor de sociale huursector.
Uiteindelijk trekt Eigen Haard aan het langste eind, om de doodeenvoudige reden dat deelraad Oud-Zuid hun economische belangen deelt. De nieuwbouw met parkeergarage zal bestaan uit 24 koopwoningen. Mensen die financieel niet in staat zijn een woning te kopen, kunnen het schudden, zo menen de krakers. Mensen met minder poen worden zo "de wijk uitgedreven."
De krakers verlaten de panden dan ook niet vrijwillig. "De Pijp en eigenlijk de hele stad hebben al veel te veel in de uitverkoop gestaan. Hoe graag Cohen en consorten Amsterdam ook als 'creatief kenniscentrum' zien, het blijft onze stad. Geen ontruiming voor yuppen of leegstand, geen ontruiming van ideeën, Verbindingsblok moet blijven!"

waarschijnlijk duurt t nog een week of twee. Bij verscheidene pandjes heeft de buurtsmeris iig gezegd dat t 7 juli zal worden. Bij t verbindignsblok niet trouwens.
