Free Anne! Help Polish anti-war activist in the Israeli hands
We are deeply disappointed because the expositure of Polish authorities on Israeli territory hasn't done anything to free Anne, Polish female anti-war activist arrested in the West Bank and to make her further work of journalist possible.
We consider a duty of Polish Foreign Ministry to act immediately and by every diplomatic means possible to support our efforts to free Anne. Alas, officials of the Embassy, probably fearing of worsening Polish-Israeli relations, are treating Anne's deportation as if it was fact on the ground. Attitude of mainstream media, when asked about the issue, is similar.
It's very comfortable to Polish authorities, and Anne's situation worsens when she is still in prison in Ramle. She was arrested by IDF during lawless and unjustified attack on the Palestinian village Bil'in at night, November 29-30. It is true that she doesn't have no more a valid visa and it's true that she knew she had no chances for its prolongation. Still the West Bank, despite of decades of barbaric occupation, is not a part of Israeli state. It isn't considered as such even by Israel. Circumstances reflect the very causes of Anne's detention - they are different from the lack of valid visa.
Israeli law makes possible further residence despite of expiration of a visa if residence is directly connected to the work one does. Anne worked in the West Bank as a journalist and hadn't ended her work. Trybuna Robotnicza (Workers Tribune) weekly and Le Monde Diplomatique - Polish Edition monthly acknowledged it in mailing with the Embassy. It makes possible cancellation of the decision to deport Anne even though the consul says it's irreversible. He hadn't even met Anne's lawyer though he has the number of that person's phone!
More, we are informed that the Embassy doesn't know much about Anne's situation and after consul's meeting with Anne in prison they are still saying that she has public defender and is placed in Tel Aviv.
It's nothing new under the sun. Polish Foreign Ministry is treating in similar way other Polish residing in the West Bank and Gaza Strip, for example asking for leaving from there.
We still have a hope that due to international solidarity like support of Israeli anti-war groups and pressure on Israeli authorities Anne's deportation can be avoided. It would be considerable help if Polish authorities have had a little good will. Alas, their indifference or even willful refusal of any help doesn't make easier finding the solution when our friend is in difficult situation.

I'm asking for immediate launching of all necessary diplomatic measures to free Anna Wajda who is now imprisoned by Israelis in Ramle and enable her to continue work of a journalist in the West Bank.
I think it is a duty of a member of the Polish authorities to make every effort possible to save Anne from deportation to Poland. Unfortunately, I must add that Polish diplomatic representation in Israel doesn't show enough interest in the matter of freeing Anne. I emphasize that I will be monitoring what measures you are taking to free her.
