Monday 29: Info-film evening on local resistance against multinational mining cooperation’s in Latin-America. Next Monday 29 of October, Ojala and ASEED, together with the Belgium organization CATAPA are organizing an info-film evening on local resistance against multinational mining cooperation’s in Latin-America. The documentary 'Sipakapa No Se Vende' (45 min. English subtitles), shows the devastating effects of open pit gold mining, but also resistance against it from local communities. The documentary will be introduced by Karen Hamming of the Dutch organization Solidaridad. Then the Belgium organization CATAPA will explain more on the consequences of multinational mining cooperation’s on local communities. CATAPA specifically focuses on small rural communities in the Peruvian and Bolivian Andes affected by multinational mining activities. Currently they are active on the protests against the Minera Majaz, a planned copper mine in the North of Peru. See you there!
