What is Circus Nomadome?
In a nutshell
Art moves and needs to be moved. This is, in a nutshell, the idea behind Nomadome. “I am a builder” says ‘Nomadome Joep’, “I don’t dance, paint, make music or do acrobatics. I only construct and accomodate.”
Creativity cauldron
Nomadome is a travelling stage, a chemistry lab for performng arts. This cauldron of creativity gives artists ingredients that can contribute to their inspiration and talent. They are the ones that make it happen. Whatever ‘it’ may be.
Art travelling light
The word Nomadome was concepted by Antony Bijnen, Joep’s brother. Thirty years ago, he designed a software programme to calculate the ideal construction for a travelling dome with a minimal need of material. Joep decided to start building these domes himself in 2003. Inspired by a circle of performing artists around him, he wanted to offer a place for creative experiments that are easy to move around. Like a circus parade, travelling from town tot town, bringing new impulses and accumilating the energy buzz that comes along with every stage performance. The beautiful round shape, the nature-based geometry, the transparant white colour and the extraordinary acoustics make a magical atmosphere that invites a new experience of light, sound and movement
Who is it for?
Nomadome is a travelling stage for performing artists. The construction is strong enough for trapeze work and the dome can accomodate all kinds of visual arts, theater, music and dance.
