Nuclear waste to Gorleben starts 10 November

The L�chow Dannenberg Citizens Environment Initiative (BI) has information that the Castor transport of nuclear waste to Gorleben will be brought forward a day.
Instead of 11 November the 12 highly radioactive waste caskets from the French plutonium factory in La Hague are to start their run already on 10 November.

Castor transport brought forward a day

The L�chow Dannenberg Citizens Environment Initiative (BI) has information that the Castor transport of nuclear waste to Gorleben will be brought forward a day.
Instead of 11 November the 12 highly radioactive waste caskets from the French plutonium factory in La Hague are to start their run already on 10 November.
According to the BI, the Germans and French argued about the date.
Whereas German Railways (DB) wanted the train to roll out of the loading station of Valognes on 10 November, the French were strictly opposed because of increased railway traffic ahead of a national holiday on 11 November.
"We�re in possession of the timetable,� says the spokesman of the BI. �According to that the radiating freight is to start the trip from Valognes at 7.47 p.m. on 10 November and at 2.32 p.m. the next day is to reach the border railway station Lauterbourg to exchange personnel."
Demonstrations have been announced ahead of the transport to resist Gorleben being turned into a nuclear toilet.
In the town of Uelzen, which lies on the rail route, a demonstration with a rally will take place at the Hammersteinplatz on 28 October from 11 a.m.
For 4 November the BI is organising a bus to a demonstration at 1 p.m. at the Brunsb�ttel atomic power station, which has hit the headlines because it has an emergency power system similar to the one that failed recently at the Forsmark nuke in Sweden, almost causing a meltdown. At the same time as the Brunsb�ttel protest, the south German anti-Castor demonstration will take place at the nuke town of Biblis, near Mannheim.
"The accident-prone reactors must be switched off immediately and the nuclear waste disposal crisis must not be worsened by more waste production," the BI spokesman summarises the demands.

Castortransporttermin vorgezogen
Demonstrationen im Vorfeld in Uelzen, Brunsb�ttel und Biblis
Nach Informationen der B�rgerinitiative Umweltschutz L�chow
Dannenberg (BI) wird der Castortransport nach Gorleben um einen
Tag vorverlegt. Statt am 11.November sollen demnach die 12
hochradioaktiven Atomm�llbeh�lter aus der franz�sischen
Plutoniumfabrik La Hague bereits am 10. November losrollen. Laut BI
gab es um den Termin einen Streit zwischen Deutschland und
Frankreich. W�hrend die DB am 10. November den Start vom
Verladebahnhof in Valognes wollte, war die franz�sische Seite wegen
erh�hten Bahnverkehrsaufkommen vor dem Nationalfeiertag am 11.
November strikt dagegen.
"Uns liegt der Fahrplan inzwischen vor", so der Sprecher der BI. "Laut
Plan soll die strahlende Fracht am 10 November um 19.47 Uhr in
Valognes starten und am n�chsten Tag gegen 14.32 Uhr den
Grenzbahnhof Lauterbourg zum Personalwechsel erreichen".
Bereits im Vorfeld des Transports sind Demonstrationen
angek�ndigt, um sich gegen ein Atomm�llklo in Gorleben zu wehren.
In dem an der Transportstrecke liegenden Uelzen findet am 28.
Oktober ab 11 Uhr eine Demonstration mit Kundgebung am
Hammersteinplatz statt. F�r den 4. November organisiert die BI einen
Bus zur Demonstration um 13 Uhr am Atommeiler Brunsb�ttel, der
durch ein �hnliches Notstromsystem, wie das versagende im
Beinahe-GAU-Reaktor im schwedischen Forsmark in die
Schlagzeilen geraten ist. Anmeldungen f�r den Bus nimmt das BI-
B�ro unter der Telefonnr. 05841-4684 entgegen. Zeitgleich zur
Kundgebung in Brunsb�ttel findet im hessischen AKW-Ort Biblis die
s�ddeutsche Castor-Auftaktdemonstration statt. "Die Pannenmeiler
geh�ren sofort abgeschaltet und die Atomm�ll-Entsorgungsmisere
darf nicht durch weitere Produktion versch�rft werden", fasst der BI-
Sprecher die Forderungen zusammen.
