New nuclear reactor for Germany? Diet Simon - 27.06.2006 08:58
The government of Germany’s most populous state is looking into building a new nuclear reactor. Professor Andreas Pinkwart, minister for innovation, science, research and technology of North-Rhine Westphalia, named Jülich, near Cologne, as a possible location. He told the "Westfälische Rundschau" newspaper that a lot of expertise is gathered in Jülich, where a research reactor was in operation until a month ago. Pinkwart called the decision of the previous Red-Green federal government to drop atomic power generation “fatal”. He said North-Rhine Westphalia would not give up nuclear research. x |
