Autobahn actions set against Ahaus Castors

Anti-nuclear activists from various parts of Germany and Amsterdam have agreed on protest actions along autobahns across Germany on 6 March. The groups believe that highly active nuclear waste from a reactor near Dresden in the east might be trucked about 600 km soon to Ahaus near the Dutch border. The meeting in M�nster also decided on protest at the Ahaus �interim storage depot� on the same day.

The meeting brought together about 35 representatives of many anti-nuclear initiatives. They included inter alia the BI Ahaus, the BI L�chow-Dannenberg and activists from Berlin, Amsterdam, Osnabr�ck, Lingen, Hamm, M�nster and Gronau. Solidarity messages came from many other towns.

Especially welcome was a statement from the Gr�ne Liga Dresden, which demands that the nuclear waste stay in the former research centre at Rossendorf. The group declared they would resist the removal of the waste.

It was decided to extend the protests against the CASTOR casket transports to the entire route from Dresden to Ahaus.

On 6 March a nationwide �Autobahn Action Day� will be mounted along the possible transpoprt routes between Dresden and Ahaus.
According to the federal environment ministry the CASTOR transport is likely to move along the autobahn motorways.

�Against that we intend to demonstrate together along the autobahns concerned with creative actions,� says a statement from the Ahaus resistance group. �For us every transport is one transport too many and we will put up determined resistance at every place.�

From 28.4.-2.5 there will be a resistance camp in Ahaus �with the purpose of giving the area some close scrutiny and to dance into the transport to live music from the one or other band.�
