Hecate carries the torch through the dark half of the year, while Brigid takes it for the light half. It is sometimes said that these goddesses are sisters of fire. They share the same symbols as Hephastus, Mulcibar or Vulcan, of smithing tools and fire. Ancient historians described the fall of these "fire gods and goddesses" and their images from the heavens.
