Call to boycott all trade with the USA, Brita

A small peace group from the village of Samford, in Queensland, Australia, in defence of the children of Iraq, has issued a call for a consumer boycott of all goods and services from the United States, Britain, Australia and their allies, should they militarily attack Iraq.

People all over the world are being asked to impose a five year personal and collective boycott on the purchase of all goods and services from the United States of America, Britain, Australia and any of their allies, if they attack Iraq militarily. This call is irrespective of whether the United Nations Security Council supports such action or not. It has been issued by a small peace group, Not in Our Name, from the village of Samford, in Queensland, Australia. The group has issued the following statement:
"We are asking all those who do not believe in inflicting capital punishment and lifelong torture and mutilation on people who are guilty of nothing, to simply check the source of whatever it is they are about to buy. If it is from one of these belligerent nations, please put it back on the supermarket shelf, or fly by another country’s airline, or buy a different brand of car, or whatever.
We are not in any sense supporters of the government of Iraq. We are supporters of the right of the Iraqi people to live peaceful and decent lives, and to not live in constant fear of airborne terrorists, or of any other kind of inhumane behavior.
The last time Iraq was attacked, a long string of war crimes was committed by the attackers, and hundreds of thousands of people were killed and terribly injured. The country was impoverished, and next to nothing was achieved. The belligerent nations now demanding that Iraq scrap the weapons of mass destruction it may have, but are quite deaf to all calls to scrap the weapons of mass destruction they themselves definitely do have, or to submit to similar UN weapons inspections and destruction themselves. They are likely to shortly use radio-active foul bombs on the cities, towns and fields of the country that is the cradle of human agriculture. These will not only kill children and blow their feet off, they will render some of Iraq’s fields, and parts of its ancient towns and cities, uninhabitable for all time. Under the patriotic rhetoric of the leaders of the western belligerents and their supporters, there seems to lurk the thin edge of an attempt at species suicide.
We wish to see a civilized, negotiated settlement to this problem, and the stripping of all belligerent nations of their weapons of mass destruction, by the United Nations.
We are tired of nationalistic and patriotic barbarism.
We apologize to those who are opposed to this and other wars and will suffer financially from this boycott, but we can, at this late hour, see no other way to try make the militant people of these countries reconsider their course. They seem to be impervious to appeals to decency, so perhaps self-interest will stay them. Probably four billion people on this planet are opposed to this war. Together, we have considerable purchasing power. We have once again been sold short in country after country, by our governments. Let’s now use our right to buy what we choose, from whom we choose, to remedy that. In particular, we are calling for a boycott of any and all services directly supplied by the governments of the United States, Britain, Australia and their militant or collaborating allies.
We appeal to all the world’s people who are opposed to the settling of disputes by the barbarities of war, to help spread this call and to make this boycott effective. It is issued in defence of the children of Iraq."

Een kleine vredesgroep ter verdediging van de kinderen van Irak uit het dorpje Samford in Queensland, Australië,
heeft een oproep doen uitgaan
voor een consumentenboycot van alle goederen en diensten uit de VS, GB en Australië, indien zij Irak militair gaan aanvallen.
Oproep tot boycot van alle handel met de VS, GB en Australië
Mensen uit de hele wereld worden gevraagd om 5 jaar lang een persoonlijke en collectieve boycot op te leggen aan
alle aankopen van goederen en diensten
uit de VS, Groot-Britannie en Australië en al hun bondgenoten indien zij Irak militair gaan aanvallen.
Deze oproep houdt geen rekening met een goed- of afkeuring door de Veiligheidsraad van de Verenigde Naties van een dergelijke actie.
Hij is gedaan door een kleine vredesgroep, " Niet in onze naam " uit het dorpje Samford in Queensland, Australië.
De groep heeft de volgende verklaring doen uitgaan:
" Wij vragen al degenen die niet geloven in de doodstraf, levenslange marteling en mutilatie van mensen die nergens
schuldig aan zijn, om simpelweg
de herkomst te checken van wat zij willen kopen.
Indien het uit een van genoemde belligerente naties komt, leg het terug in het supermarktvak, vlieg met een maatschappij
uit een ander land of koop een ander auto of wat dan ook.
Wij zijn op geen enkele wijze voorstanders van de regering in Irak, wel steunen wij het recht van het Irakese volk
om vreedzame en redelijke te leven en niet altijd in doodsangst te leven voor vliegende terroristen of voor elke
andere vorm van inhumaan gedrag.
De laatste keer dat Irak aangevallen werd, zijn een lange reeks van oorlogsmisdaden gepleegd door de aanvallers,
en honderdduizenden werden gedood of vreselijk gewond. Het land werd in armoede gestort terwijl niets is bereikt.
De belligerente naties eisen de vernietiging van de massavernietigingswapens die Irak zou kunnen bezitten maar zijn doof voor alle oproepen tot vernietiging van de massavernietigingswapens die zij zeker bezitten of zich te onderwerpen aan soortgelijke VN wapeninspecties en wapenvernietiging.
Zij zullen binnenkort waarschijnlijk radioactieve smerige bommen op de steden, dorpen en akkers gooien van het land
dat de bakermat van menselijke agricultuur is.
Deze zullen niet alleen kinderen vermoorden en hun voeten afscheuren, zij zullen sommige van Irak's akkers en delen
van haar oeroude steden en dorpen voor altijd onbewoonbaar maken.
Achter de vaderlandslievende retoriek van de leiders van de westerse belligerenten en haar bondgenoten
dreigt poging tot zelfmoord van de menselijke soort.
Wij willen een geciviliseerde, onderhandelde oplossing zien van dit probleem en het afpakken
van alle massavernietigingswapens die de belligerente naties bezitten,
door de Verenigde Naties.
Wij zijn het barbaarse patriottisme en nationalisme beu.
Onze excuses aan degenen die tegen deze oorlog zijn en die financieel getroffen zullen worden
door deze boycot maar wij zien op dit late tijdstip geen andere manier om de militanten van deze landen
te dwingen hun handelswijze te heroverwegen.
Zij schijnen ongevoelig voor oproepen tot redelijkheid dus misschien kunnen zij wel door eigenbelang
gedwongen worden tot stoppen.
Naar schatting vier miljard mensen op deze aardbol zijn tegen deze oorlog, samen hebben wij een behoorlijke bestedingsmacht.
Ons is weer een kat in de zak verkocht door onze regeringen, laten wij nu ons recht gebruiken om te kopen wat wij willen kopen
en van wie wij kiezen te kopen om dit te verhelpen.
In het bijzonder roepen wij op tot een boycot van alle goederen en diensten die rechtstreeks geleverd worden door de regeringen
van de VS, GB en Australië en hun militante en collaborerende bondgenoten.
Wij appelleren aan alle mensen op de wereld die tegen de oplossing van conflicten door het barbaarse middel van oorlog zijn,
om te helpen met de verspreiding van deze oproep en zo deze boycot effectief te maken.
Deze oproep tot boycot is gedaan ter verdediging van de kinderen van Irak."
