schande, naast kunst en kunstenaars nu ook al op kunstmuseums bezuinigen,
waarin links en rechtse politicie zich vinden
Dear artist / critic / curator / other,
The future of Amsterdam‚s Stedelijk Museum of modern art is
threatened. The museum has suffered more than ten years of neglect,
in which various plans for a badly needed new extension were
endlessly discussed. The local politicians, who have the final say on
this municipal institution, have torpedoed plans for the involvement of
sponsors, but these same politicians have decided they will not finance
a new wing for their run-down and cramped museum.
The opportunism, ineptness and populism of Amsterdam‚s political elite
have already badly damaged the cultural climate in this city. Without
more space for both art and staff, the Stedelijk Museum cannot function
properly, and the artistic climate in Amsterdam will continue its
downward spiral.

professionals and art lovers in signing the letter of protest on

Dutch artists Twan Janssen, De Rijke De Rooij and Albert van Westing and a lot others.
