KWRU demands housing for domestic victims

June 11: A large crowd of KWRU families and student supporters crowded the office building of Philadelphia´s housing management officials today. They held signs asking, "Who´s going to deal with Domestic Violence?" and continuing to demand affordable housing.
Philadelphia shelters endanger women who are vicitms of domestice violence. These women are also forced to choose to between breaking up their families and staying safe since teenage boys are not allowed to remain with their mothers in emergency shelters.
Due to the pressure of the office building sit-in officials were forced to start dealing with the housing siutations of the different families, including a case involving a pregnant mother. KWRU will follow up on the process later this week.
