Long hours for low wage, An Indonesian unionist shares her story Nine years did Indonesian unionist Emelia Yanti work as a garment worker. Yanti will speak about the most urgent problems in the Indonesian garment industry, such as union busting and low wages. Nine years did Indonesian unionist Emelia Yanti work as a garment worker. When the factory where she worked suddenly closed the doors, she and hundreds of co-workers lost their jobs, leaving their wages unpaid for four months. Yanti decided to become a fulltime organiser and together with other workers from various factories, she initiated a union, now an important partner of the CCC. Yanti will speak about the most urgent problems in the Indonesian garment industry, such as union busting and low wages. Fortunately, the union has achieved some successes, such as an agreement signed with Adidas, Nike and Puma on workers union rights.
