tent camp Beursplein amsterdam freeman john - 19.09.2011 15:36
amsterdam tent camp in support of worldwide tent camps in protest against banks and politicians. saturday 17th septenber at 4pm i arrived in the beursplein amsterdam for the solidarity action for wall street new york and actions around the world.this action was organised by de socialist holland, there were about 20 tents set up and around 50-60 people.we had updates on the rest of the actions worldwide,we shared some food, listened to some speeches and some good live music.we had a general assembly were it was agreed that we would stay until the end of the permit which was 8pm sunday night.there was a really upbeat"we can do this"feel about the whole evening,a feeling of unity with the rest of the world.i went to bed around 2am but people were still awke and still buzzing from the whole event.i got up around 10.30am on sunday morning to a loud claxon being blown into my tent,so time to get up.i joined the main body of people and i was informed that we were having another general assembly.the first order of discussion was whether to pack up now,i was vehemently against this because i thought we would be letting ourselves and the other tent camps worldwide down,so it was decided to stay till 8pm,i went to get a shower at 11.30am i came back at 2pm and found the tent camp being taken down and i once again vehemently objected but i was ignored and they were packed and gone by 3pm.i decided to stay and my tent stayed until 10pm!! i would like to say that they broke my heart but i will still do more actions with these people because more then anything i believe that we must start working as a community/family worldwide or they will just ignore all actions by people and countries individually, when 1 country has an action it must done by many countries at the same time to show that this is a worldwide problem and to sort it out we MUST BECOME A WORLDWIDE COMMUNITY?FAMILY.i wish you well and see you in brussels 15 october, love and peace freeman john. |
