A demonstration with clearly recognizable undercover police
Rebelact - 04.07.2011 12:12

All right, one of the intentions of the demonstration "Kraken draait door" Sunday, July 3rd was to don't have police in the demonstration. But of course you'll need some undercover police to keep order! A great task for Inspector Green, Inspekteur Grün and Inspecteur Vert. Next to it there were some other colleagues in the demonstration, but it wasn't easy to find them...

General info about the demonstration:  http://www.indymedia.nl/nl/2011/07/77125.shtml

It was a beautiful sunny day in Amsterdam. We arrived 17.00 at the Dam square: 7 members of the undercover police from the special department 'Inspector Green, inspekteur Grün and Inspecteur Vert'.
Immediately we started to make some rounds. Why? to find our colleagues who might feel lonely in an enthusiastic crowd of squatters and symphatizers. It wasn't easy at all... Did they get lost? Did they disappear?

After hearing some very interesting speeches finally the demonstration started. With unstoppable energy we looked and looked and looked, but where the hell were our beloved colleagues?!
Only in the tail of the demonstration we found a few candidates; we gave them company for a while. The best way to don't feel lonely as an undercover cop!

But to be honoust: we were still in doubt about the question - do they really belong to us or do they belong to them? In the past it was so easy to recognise undercover police, but now...

At least we were recognizable as undercover police! And that's the way it should be! Let's shout it loud and clear: "this country needs order!"

Een demo met duidelijk herkenbare stillen
Rebelact - 04.07.2011 12:51

 http://www.indymedia.nl/nl/2011/07/77125.shtml

What was the point in your action?
anti-egoism - 04.07.2011 15:46

What was the point that you were trying to highlight exactly?

When I first came across CIRCA, about 8 years ago now ( i think) there point was quite clear and occasionally worked.
At mpments of tension with the police, CIRCA would intervene and make light of the situation; thus disarming the cops and relieving the tension.

However, now it seems that you, Rebel act, and your group just want to have your photos taken. This dressing as the stille doesnt make any sense. it doesnt help anyone if the stille are around. infact, it annoys me and a lot of other people.

Then theres the national duck front, and whatever else at the nazi demos. I guess the point of that is to make fun of the nazis, its not really successful you just make, well, clowns of yourselves and the latest national banana front. on a street level i think its impossible to make your behaviour understood to the masses.
If people dont know the clowns, then the national banana front action could of appeared quite racist.

In short what you're doing is just to be there and have your photographs taken rather than to get any message across or to help anyone else out so please politicise your activity or get lost.

@anti egoism
Don't be a fascist. Let us be diverse.
How i can explain jokes for someone without intelligence ?
Thanks to the clowns for bringing their tactic full of humour to the movement. We need to smile sometimes :)
Sometimes i think about do those demotivating coments are not writen by someone who would like to divide us or make us smaller ? Because that's what government is all about...
BTW: if is about egoism why they're so hard to recognize sometimes ??

happy
nn - 04.07.2011 18:30

I was happy with rebelact's presence and I think they're doing great work to block the police in humorous ways. I also think they help to improve the image of the overall demonstration. And contrary to many others, they put in a lot of effort and preparation. They deserve more than an anonymous criticism on indymedia from some unaccountable person claiming to speak for many.

a simple question
another nn - 04.07.2011 19:31

anti-egoist is simply asking a question, why does that bother anyone?
I also ask the same questions whenever i see the clowns in the demos, why?
I just want to know what their point is, because what they say they do and what they do are never matching, what they do never serve the purpose they claim to have. Do they question this as well? I don't think so.

and same here, when i came across with CIRCA years ago, they had a clear purpose and they were fun at the same time, this clown army of amsterdam is never fun nor useful in anyway and a lot about being there for the sake of it almost. I'm here to be convinced though, that's not the opinion of the masses, it's my opinion. well, and quite a few individuals around me;)
happy
nn again - 04.07.2011 20:28

another nn - it wasn't a simple question at all. It was full of venom and ended with a nice "so please politicise your activity or get lost." Formulating questions in such a way is more likely to demotivate fellow activists than to Rebelact explaining their tactics (is Indymedia the best place for that though?). That was my reason for stating that I, for one, do appreciate rebelact.

Zo haal je jezelf onderuit mensen
Lotte - 05.07.2011 09:36

Ga alsjeblieft ergens anders verdeeldheid zaaien.

2 x nix / 2 x nothing
Molotof - 05.07.2011 18:04

Such a dressingparty is a (relatively) safe confrontationavoiding affair. To make someone a suspect because you've never seen this person or so is not a cool thing to do. That's twice nothing.

Explaining tactics
Rebelact - 06.07.2011 18:23

In the last couple of days we were too bussy with preparing our contribution to the protests against the eviction of Gallery Schijnheilig. No time to react to discussions. See  http://www.indymedia.nl/nl/2011/07/77286.shtml

Next to it we only post actions on Indymedia. Discussions are welcome elsewhere. Explaining why we don't use the original rebel clown format from 2003 and why we want to make our own development and want to experiment with action forms should take a while.

Everyone who wants to know more about these tactics is warmly welcome at our info nights. A few weeks back we gave a workshop with an introduction in Gallery Schijnheilig and we got the impression people understood the choices we make.

Earlier this year we organized a 'Rebel Clown High Tea' in the Pepper (OT301). It was a nice afternoon with explenation, films, talks and a lot of cookies. Later this year we'll probably organize a new info night. We announce these activities by Indymedia + posters and flyers at tenths of alternative spots in Amsterdam.

Another option is to invite us for debates, discussions about tactics and strategies. We'll join and give response to any opinion or question.

Last but not least: mail us! Your opinion or question will get fooool attention!

Uitleg tactieken
Rebelact - 07.07.2011 11:20

Jouw mening of vraag krijgt alle aandacht!
