Woordvoerders Kopenhagen CJA veroordeeld tot 2 maanden nn - 09.06.2011 18:06
Reprint: Open brief van Climate Justice Action, met betrekking tot recente veroordeling woordvoerders Kopenhagen. Dear all, we just got the news that our friends Tannie and Stine from Climate Justice Action/Climate Collective Denmark have been sentenced to two months jail and two months probation plus legal costs resulting from their arrests during the COP 15. It is an outrage. Both of them were totally committed to the non-violent direct action of the Peoples Assembly and it seems to me that the Danish police needed to have a couple of scalps to justify their extraordinary behaviour during the COP15. We need to think about how to show solidarity, and how we can raise funds to help with their legal costs. Below is the brief news from Denmark. Background: During the "Reclaim Power" action of 16 December 2009, Stine and Tannie were pulled off the sound truck by police and arrested. The police claim that they were inciting violence. In the first hearing last year, they received a 5 month suspended sentence which was appealed by the prosecutor/state/police. Today's decision is from the appeal court: "Stine and Tannie's court case that had been appealed to the second level of court has finished today. The two CJA spokespersons have been sentenced to two months jail plus two months probation, and to pay the costs of court. "Climate Collective underlines once again its indignation for this attempt of holding two people responsible for the actions of a movement, and expresses its strongest solidarity to Stine and Tannie. |
