Als de inwoners van Bougainville (Papua Nieuw Guinea) zien welke schade de kopermijn aanricht op hun eiland besluiten ze dat het genoeg is: de kopermijn wordt het eiland afgezet en een strijd voor autonomie begint.

Het leger van Papua Nieuw Guinea probeert de opstand de kop in te drukken maar de inwoners van Bougainville geven niet op. Door een blokkade van de wereld afgesloten bouwen ze op eigen kracht hun samenleving weer op, zonder de kopermijn en zonder hulp van buiten af.

When the inhabitants of Bougainville (Papua New Guinea) realize what damage the copper mine is causing to there island the decide that enough is enough and a struggle for autonomy begins. The Papua New Guinea army tries to intervene but the Bougainvillians don't give in. Separated from the world they build their society from scratch, without the copper mine and without help from outside.
