Help write to the UN about Internet freedom Access - 01.03.2011 22:50
Access has been invited to speak at a UN Human Rights Council event on Friday in Geneva on the topic of internet freedom in front of foreign ministers, UN ambassadors, and other high-level foreign officials. Over the last few weeks you've been a big part of our efforts to promote digital freedom around the globe, now together we have a chance to tell the UN, in front of the world's media, what they should be doing to support digital rights, and we’d like you to help us write the speech! There are a few occasions when we have the attention of our leaders, and it's at these moments, that we must unify our voices to have them heard clearly. Please take a moment to click on the link below and fill out our survey and add your comments and we'll include your thoughts in our speech on Friday: https://www.accessnow.org/policy-activism/press-blog/write-our-speech We at Access want to ensure that all parties -- including you -- have a seat at the table as we share the stage with government officials and corporate representatives. At a time when internet freedom has been under threat from dictators, corporations, and other interests, we want to make sure that world leaders hear your ideas on what can be done to protect freedom of internet access. Please follow the link below and complete the survey to give us your ideas and suggestions for the speech on Friday: https://www.accessnow.org/policy-activism/press-blog/write-our-speech As the world has seen in the last six weeks, the internet has become a platform for revolutionary change, but also exploitation and oppression. If world leaders don't hear your voice, your interests won't be represented in the defining actions that they take. The digital landscape is changing at every turn, use your voice, in concert with other members of the Access global movement, to make sure this change protects, not diminishes, our digital rights. https://www.accessnow.org/policy-activism/press-blog/write-our-speech We want to hear about the issues that are important to YOU, so Access can present them to the UN Human Rights Council. In addition, we've helped put together a set of 10 principles we believe should govern the internet. We want to know what you think of them! This is your chance. Let them hear your voice. Write our speech! https://www.accessnow.org/policy-activism/press-blog/write-our-speech With hope, The Access Team -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, go to: http://www.accessnow.org/unsubscribe |
