Aanstaande vrijdag 28 januari in Spui 25 te Amsterdam een debat over nut en noodzaak van geëngageerde en activistische kunst. Wat is de positie van kunst en activisme in onze gepolariseerde spektakelmaatschappij?
Is het een relevante praktijk of een pseudo-activiteit in de marge van de echte politiek?

Nieuw boek; boek Art and Activism in the Age of Globalisation

Is consensus en conformisme de norm en beleven we het eind van een traditie van kritiek, protest en verzet? Filosoof, schrijver en kunsthistoricus Lieven de Cauter gaat naar aanleiding van het verschijnen van zijn nieuwe boek Art and Activism in the Age of Globalisation in debat met o.a. kunstenaarscollectief BAVO, ‘activistisch curator’ Ine Gevers. Presentatie Friso Wiersum.

Lieven De Cauter is een Belgische filosoof en schrijver die woont en werkt in Brussel. Hij staat bekend als andersglobalist. In Spui 25 zal hij zijn laatste boek presenteren Art&Activism.

BAVO is een onafhankelijk onderzoeksbureau van de filosoof-architecten Gideon Boie en Matthias Pauwels dat focust op de politieke dimensie van kunst, architectuur en planning.

Ine Gevers curator van o.a. tentoonstelling Niet Normaal (2010), en Ja Natuurlijk (verwacht in 2012). Niet Normaal’ was te zien in de Beurs van Berlage en ging over hét actuele onderwerp in onze samenleving: wat is normaal en wie bepaalt dat? Ja natuurlijk zal ook bijzonder geëngageerd zijn.
