European Calling: is just the beginning!

…You don’t need a weatherman to know which way the wind blows: occupation of universities everywhere in Europe, blockage of the cities, manif sauvage, rage. This is the answer of a generation to whom they want to cut the future with debts for studying, cuts of welfare state and increasing of tuition fees.
The determination of thousand of students in London, the rage of who assault the Italian Senate house against the austerity and the education cuts, has opened the present time: this is because the future is something to gain that start when you decide collectively to take risk and to struggle.
The extraordinary struggles that we are living have the capacity to show a present with an intensity that exceed the linearity of the time, that refuse our precarity condition: it is an assault to the future!
We don’t want to get into debt, we don’t want to pay more fees to study in London as well as in Paris, Wien, Rome, Athens, Madrid, Dublin, Lisbon. This European movement is about refusing austerity policies, refusing to get into debt for these miserable politicians. Que se vayan todos!
What is happening nowadays in Rome first spread out in Athens and Paris, then in Dublin and London: it is the irruption of a movement who speaks a common language, the same young generation in revolt, who inhabits different cities but shares the same determination to struggle, «floating like a butterfly and stinging like a bee».
We have to meet each other and invent a new political grammar against the weakness of the Nation-state and their strategy to face the crisis: their receipt is just austerity, cuts and debt.
In Italy we have occupied not only universities, but also blocked motorways and the mobility of the country in order to circulate struggles outside the national borders and coming in Europe and beyond. The circulation of struggles is living within the Book Block and the wild demonstration in London, Paris and Rome.
This autumn we are living a real European student movement, that is various and radical, really heterogeneous. Its common reclaim comes from a protest that is born in the middle of the crisis, and that represents the most courageous answer. It is a struggle composed by different struggles, heterogeneous temporalities that reclaim more scholarships for student and a public university for everyone.
Within the book block a new generation recognized and found itself in the protest. Today in lots of cities the Italian student movement is showing something more than just solidarity: this is because your struggle is our struggle and all around Europe students are against the increasing of fees, the privatisation of the university and the education cuts. You are not alone in UK: an European event, a new generation do not want to stop. We have the force whom want to change the world and we have the intelligence to do it. It is just the beginning!
We propose to students, researchers, precarious workers and PhD students to build up together an European meeting at the beginning of the 2011, to continue the struggle, to transform this wind in a tempest!

…Non serve essere un meteorologo per capire da che parte soffia il vento: occupazioni nelle università di tutta Europa, blocchi della città, manifestazioni selvagge, rabbia. Questa è la risposta che una nuova generazione sta dando a chi vuole ipotecare il nostro futuro con debiti per studiare, tagli del welfare, aumenti delle tasse.
Contro l`austerità e i tagli all’educazione pubblica, la determinazione di migliaia di studenti a Londra e la rabbia di quelli che hanno assediato il Senato a Roma hanno squarciato il tempo presente: si, perché il futuro è una conquista, e comincia quando si decide, collettivamente, di rischiare e di lottare.
Le formidabili lotte che stiamo attraversando hanno la capacità di farci vivere il presente con quell’intensità che eccede la linearità del tempo, che rifiuta la precarietà: é un assalto al futuro.
Non vogliamo indebitarci, non vogliamo pagare tasse per studiare tanto a Londra, quanto a Parigi, Vienna, Roma, Atene, Madrid, Dublino, Lisbona. Questo movimento europeo é il rifiuto della ricetta dell`austerità, il rifiuto di indebitarci per questi politici miserabili a cui gridiamo Que se vajan todos!
Quello che sta accadendo in questi giorni a Roma è prima scoppiato a Londra, e ancora prima a Parigi: un movimento che parla la stessa lingua e grammatica comune, una stessa generazione in rivolta che abita metropoli diverse nutrita dalla determinazione delle lotte, che punge come una vespa.
Di fronte a questi Stati-nazione in crisi la cui unica ricetta, ben nota, fa rima con austerità e indebitamento quello che dobbiamo fare è incontrarci e inventare una grammatica nuova che ecceda la debolezza dei nostri stessi governi.
In Italia non solo abbiamo occupato le università, ma abbiamo bloccato autostrade, la circolazione e la mobilità di un intero paese per far circolare le lotte, per connetterle con quelle oltre i confini nazionali, per arrivare in Europa ed oltre. La circolazione delle lotte vive dentro il blocco della metropoli e le manifestazioni selvagge a Londra, Parigi e Roma, laddove la fluidità di queste città scopre la corporeità dei rapporti di forza, del rifiuto e della indisponibilità.
Questo autunno abbiamo dato vita ad un rappresenta la sua più coraggiosa risposta. Una lotta fatta di molte lotte e soggetti, differenti temporalità che si sono annodate per rivendicare più borse di studio e libero accesso ad una educazione pubblica e di qualità.
Dietro i libri-scudo del Book Block una generazione si è riconosciuta e si è ritrovata nelle proteste. Oggi in molte città italiane il movimento studentesco ha mostrato un segno che non è di semplice solidarietà: non ci sono solo manifestazioni in UK oggi, ma in tutta Europa gli studenti sono contro i vergognosi aumenti delle tasse e i tagli indiscriminati alla ricerca e alla formazione.
Non siete soli, non siamo soli: un movimento europeo, una nuova generazione che non avrà pensione e che starà peggio dei loro genitori non ha alcuna voglia di rassegnarsi; abbiamo la forza di coloro che vogliono trasformare il mondo e abbiamo l`intelligenza per poterlo fare. Non è altro che l`inizio!
Proprio per questo proponiamo a studenti, ricercatori, lavoratori precari e dottorandi un’assemblea europea da costruire tutti assieme ad inizio 2011 a Roma per continuare la lotta, perché il vento che sta soffiando diventi tempesta!

...Il n’y a pas besoin d’un météorologue pour comprendre dans quelle direction souffle le vent : occupations universitaires en toute l’Europe, blocages des villes, manifs sauvages, rage. C’est ça, la réponse que la nouvelle génération est entrain de donner à ceux qui veulent mettre une hypothèque sur notre futur avec dettes pour étudier, des coupures de l’état social et des augmentations des taxes.
Contre l’austérité et les coupures budgétaires, la détermination de milliers d’étudiants à Londres et la rage de ceux qui ont assiégé le Sénat à Rome ont déchiré le temps du présent : oui, car le futur est une conquête, et elle commence quand on choisit, collectivement, de prendre des risques et de lutter.
Le luttes formidables que l’on est entrain de traverser ont la capacité de nous faire vivre le présent avec cette intensité qui dépasse la linéarité du temps, qui refuse la précarité : il s’agit d’un assaut au futur.
Nous ne voulons pas nous endetter, nous ne voulons pas payer des taxes pour étudier, à Londres comme à Paris, Rome, Athènes, Madrid, Dublin et Lisbonne. Ce mouvement européen, c’est le refus de la recette de l’austérité, le refus de nous endetter pour ces politiciens misérables auxquels on crie « Que se vajan todos ! » (Que se tirent tous ! ndt) Ce qui est entrain de se passer pendant ces jours à Rome, a d’abord éclaté à Londres, et auparavant encore à Paris : un mouvement qui parle la même langue, une même génération en révolte qui habite des métropoles différentes mais nourries de la détermination des luttes, qui pique comme une abeille.
Face à des Etats-nations en crise dont l’unique recette, bien connue, rime avec austérité et endettement, ce qu’on doit faire, c’est nous rencontrer et inventer une nouvelle grammaire qui dépasse la faiblesse de nos propres gouvernements. En Italie non seulement on a occupé les universités, mais on a aussi bloqué les autoroutes, la circulation et la mobilité d’un pays tout entier pour faire circuler les luttes, pour les connecter avec celles qui se déroulent au-delà des frontières nationales, pour arriver en Europe et bien plus loin. La circulation des luttes vit dans le blocage de la métropole et dans les manifestations sauvages à Londres, Paris et Rome. Là où la fluidité de ces villes découvre la corporalité des rapports de force, du refus et de l’indisponibilité.
Cet automne, on a donné vie à un mouvement estudiantin qui est varié et radical, réellement hétérogène. Ces réclamations communes viennent d’une protestation qui est née au milieu de la crise et qui représente sa réponse la plus courageuse. Une lutte composée de beaucoup de luttes et de sujets, de différentes temporalités qui se sont emmêlée pour revendiquer plus de bourses d’études et le libre accès à une éducation publique et de qualité.
Derrière les livres-boucliers du Book-Bloc, une génération s’est reconnue et retrouvée dans les protestations. Aujourd’hui, dans beaucoup de villes italiennes, le mouvement estudiantin a montré plus que de la simple solidarité : il n’y a pas qu’en Angleterre qu’il y a des manifestations aujourd’hui, dans toute l’Europe les étudiants s’opposent à des augmentations honteuses de taxes et à des coupures indiscriminés à la recherche et à la formation.
Vous n’êtes pas seuls, nous ne sommes pas seuls : un mouvement européen, une nouvelle génération, qui n’aura pas de retraite et qui aura une vie pire de celle de leurs parents, n’a aucun envie de se renseigner ; on a la force de ceux qui veulent transformer le monde et l’intelligence pour pouvoir le faire. Ceci n’est que le début !
C’est pour ça que nous proposons aux étudiants, chercheurs, travailleur précaires et doctorants, une assemblée européenne à construire tous ensemble au début 2011 à Rome. Pour continuer la lutte, pour que le vent qui est entrain de souffler devienne une tempête !

...Man braucht keinen Wettermann, um sagen zu können, aus welcher Richtung der Wind weht: die Besetzung von Universitäten in ganz Europa, Blockaden ganzer Städte, Spontandemos, Wut überall. Was wir hier erleben, ist die Antwort einer Generation, deren Zukunft weggekürzt werden soll: mit Studiengebühren, Sozialkürzungen und der notwendigen Aufnahme von Schulden, um überhaupt studieren zu können.
Die Entschlossenheit tausender Studierender in London, der Hass derer, die den italienischen Senat angreifen, um Widerstand gegen die Kürzungen und Sparmaßnahmen im Bildungssektor zu leisten, hat Möglichkeiten eröffnet: Geschichte scheint als etwas auf, das in der kollektiven Entscheidung, Risiken einzugehen und um die eigene Zukunft zu kämpfen, gemacht wird.
Die Kämpfe in denen wir leben, weisen in ihrer Intensität über das Jetzt hinaus und verweigern sich unserer prekarisierten Situation: wir führen einen Angriff für unsere Zukunft!
Wir wollen keine Schulden aufnehmen, wir wollen nicht noch mehr Gebühren zahlen, um in London, Paris, Wien, Rom, Athen, Madrid, Dublin oder Lissabon studieren zu können. Diese europäische Bewegung wehrt sich gegen die Sparmaßnahmen der Politik, weigert sich für armselige Politiker_innen Schulden aufzunehmen. Que se vayan todos!
Was in Rom begann, breitete sich zunächst nach Athen und Paris aus, dann nach Dublin und London: es ist der Aufbruch einer Bewegung, die eine gemeinsame Sprache spricht, die selbe junge Generation in einer Revolte, die in verschiedenen Städten stattfindet, aber die selbe Entschlossenheit im Kampf zeigt, um „zu fliegen wie ein Schmetterling und zu stechen wie eine Biene“.
Wir müssen uns selbst finden und eine neue politische Sprache gegen die schwächelnden
Nationalstaaten und ihre Strategie zur Bewältigung der Krise finden, denn alles was ihnen einfällt sind Sparmaßnahmen, Kürzungen und Verschuldung.
In Italien haben wir nicht nur Universitäten besetzt, sondern auch Autobahnen und die
Verkehrsinfrastruktur im ganzen Land blockiert, um unsere Kämpfe über die nationalen Grenzen hinweg auszudehnen: auf das europäische Ausland und darüber hinaus. Diese Zusammengehörigkeit lebt im „Book Block“ und den Demonstrationen in London, Paris und Rom. Diesen Herbst erleben wir eine wahrhaft europäische Studierendenbewegung, die - in ihrer Heterogenität - Vielfalt und Radikalität verbindet. Die sie einigende Forderung, entspringt einem Protest, der in der Krise geboren wurde, und der die mutigste Antwort auf diese darstellt. Es handelt sich um einen Kampf, der verschiedene Kämpfe vereint, die, in ihrer Ungleichzeitigkeit, mehr Stipendien und eine öffentliche Universität für alle fordern.
Im „Book Block“ erkennt und findet sich eine neue Generation. In vielen Städten zeigt die italienische Studierendenbewegung heute mehr als nur Solidarität mit euch: das liegt daran, dass euer Kampf unser Kampf ist und dass in ganz Europa Studierende gegen die Erhöhung der Studiengebühren, die Privatisierung der Universitäten und Bildungskürzungen sind. Ihr seid nicht allein in Großbritannien: in diesem europäischen Ereignis zeigt sich eine neue Generation, die nicht gewillt ist, aufzugeben. Wir haben die Macht, die Welt zu verändern und wir sind schlau genug es zu tun. Das ist erst der Anfang!
Wir schlagen Student_innen, Wissenschaftler_innen, prekär Beschäftigten und Doktorand_innen ein gemeinsames europäisches Treffen zu Beginn des Jahres 2011 vor, um die Kämpfe fortzuführen und diesen Wind in einen Sturm zu verwandeln!
