New film collective for socialist cinema Thijs Witty - 05.11.2010 11:41
New socialist film collective at Overtoom301: KINO PRAXIS. First screening Tuesday november 9th. - KINO PRAXIS is a new film collective that screens socialist cinema from all over the world. In the spirit of Kino Pravda - with an added twist of Situationism - we herald a glorious return of the film club: the cinema experience as a social event that shapes new landscapes of possibility and resistance. Next Tuesday we will show "Up the Yangtze" (Yung Chang, 2007) & "24 City" (Jia Zhangke, 2008). A theme that runs through both films is the social and economic disjunction between the local and the global in contemporary China. Date: Tuesday November 9 Place: Overtoom301 Time: starts at 20:30, bar open 'till 01:00 Price: €4,- (free drink included!) |

This is really interesting, love to go. > In the spirit of Kino Pravda - with an added twist of Situationism - > we herald a glorious return of the film club: the cinema experience > as a social event that shapes new landscapes of possibility > and resistance. Then again maybe not. Anyway it's Tuesday. Won't you be on the noise demo with the rest of us dealing with the current landscape of resistance.
