Zondag 14 november 2010: Solidariteits lawaaidemonstratie bij het in juli geopende detentiecentrum Rotterdam Airport
Verzamelen: 14 uur Randstadrailstation Melanchtonweg, waar ook tram 25 stopt.
DC Rotterdam: 25 isoleercellen... volop in gebruik...
Afgelopen zomer werd het nieuwe detentie- en uitzetcentrum op Rotterdam Airport (Zestienhoven) in gebruik genomen. Daarmee werd een nieuwe schandvlek van het Nederlandse migratiebeleid aan de kaart toegevoegd.
Er bereiken ons nu al ernstig verontrustende verhalen over de omstandigheden in het centrum. Mensen hebben enorme last van kerosinestank, vliegtuiglawaai, sirenes, bouwwerkzaamheden enzovoort. Gedetineerden krijgen een chipkaart met foto en nummers, die nodig is om van alles te doen, waaronder telefoneren. Zo wordt alles geregistreerd en kan gebruikt worden om mensen nóg meer te intimideren om uitzetting voor elkaar te krijgen.
We horen over zelfmoordpogingen, over mensen met hartklachten die desondanks gedeporteerd dreigen te worden. Daarnaast de verhalen die we uit andere gevangenissen kennen: volstrekt ontoereikende medische zorg, vervelende bewakers, intimidatie en veelvuldig gebruik van mensonterende isoleercellen.

Genoeg redenen dus om een stevig protest te laten horen. Maar het gaat ons niet alleen om de omstandigheden in het nieuwe detentiecentrum. Bovenal verzetten wij ons tegen het schandelijke migratiebeleid, dat met deze nieuwe regering alleen maar nieuwe dieptepunten tegemoet zal gaan. Binnen het kapitalistische systeem van hebzucht en winststreven is geen aandacht en geen plek voor de slachtoffers van opsluiting en deportatie. Een systeem dat door middel van onderdrukking en uitbuiting van de rest van de wereld een ongekende 'welvaart' in het Westen gecreëerd heeft. Dit resulteert elders in honger, armoede, oorlog en vervolging, waarvoor mensen op de vlucht slaan. Het is stuitend dat zij vervolgens hier in gevangenissen of de illegaliteit belanden.
Wij staan voor een solidaire wereld zonder grenzen, waarin geen plaats is voor onderdrukkende instituties als staten, politie en gevangenissen.
Op zondag 14 november willen we de vastzittende migranten een hart onder de riem steken én een duidelijk geluid tegen het beleid van 'uitsluiten, opsluiten en uitzetten' laten horen. Neem materiaal mee om lawaai te maken en kom om 14.00 uur naar het nabij gelegen Randstadrailstation Melanchtonweg. Vandaar lopen we gezamenlijk naar het detentiecentrum.

Komende maand organiseert Werkgroep Stop Deportaties een reeks informatie avonden om mensen te vertellen over de omstandigheden in het nieuwe detentiecentrum Rotterdam en de ideeën voor een nieuwe campagne: tegen de nieuwbouwplannen voor een grensgevangenis (Justitieel complex) op Schiphol.

Sunday, November 14th: solidarity demo at the recently opened detention centre Rotterdam Airport
Gathering: 14.00 hr Randstadrail station Melanchtonweg, also tram stop of line 25.

Last summer, the new detention and deportation centre at Rotterdam Airport (Zestienhoven) has been taken into use, adding a new blot of Dutch migration policy to the map.
We already hear worrying stories concerning the situation in the centre. People are very much bothered by stench of kerosene, airplane noise, sirens, building activities etc. Detainees receive a chip card containing photo and numbers, necessary for all sorts of things, amongst others making telephone calls. This way, everything will be registered and can be used to intimidate them even more, in order to deport them.
We hear of suicide attempts, of people with cardiac problems who are threatened to be deported nevertheless. Furthermore, the stories we know from other prisons: utterly insufficient medical aid, bullying jailers, intimidation and plenty use of degrading isolation cells.

So, more than enough reason for letting hear a solid protest. But, this is not just about the situation in the new detention centre. Moreover, we set our face against the scandalous immigration policy, that, with this new government, will encounter only new all time lowest. Within the capitalist system of greed and profit making, there is no attention and no place for the victims of detention and deportation. A system that, by repressing and exploit ting the rest of the world, created an unknown ‘prosperity’ in the West. Elsewhere, this results in hunger, poverty, war and pursuit, because of which people flee. It is disgusting, that they find themselves here in prisons or in illegality.
We stand for a solidary world without borders, in which is no place for repressive institutions like states, police and prisons.
On Sunday, November 14th, we want to support the detained migrants ánd make noise against the policy of ‘exclude, detain and deport’. Bring material to make noise and come to the nearby Randstadrailstation Melanchtonweg . From there, we walk together to the detention centre.
We don’t announce this demonstration officially, so bear that in mind!

Next month, Werkgroep Stop Deportaties organises a series of information evenings, in order to inform people about the situation in the new detention centre Rotterdam, and about ideas for a new campaign: against the construction of a new border prison (Judicial Complex) at Schiphol.
