[A'dam] Street Medic training 17th-19th September streetmedics_amsterdam - 01.09.2010 00:12
Street medics, or action medics, do (amongst other things) first aid in actions, demonstrations and other situations where politically active people tend to get hurt. During the last years most of us have unfortunately witnessed situations where squatters, activists and other dissidents get hurt. And, even more unfortunately, we rarely know what do do in those situations. Especially now with the kraaverbod approaching us with rapid speed it's about time to get some training and get ready! This 2½ day training will teach you the basics of general First Aid, as well as skills to deal with medical situations specific to direct action, such as dealing with chemical weapons and the police. The course will involve scenarios and hands-on practice and it will equip you for a wide range of situations, from hypothermia to baton wounds. The training will take place on the 17th-19th of September in Amsterdam. The exact location and times are still to be confirmed but there'll be a few hours of training on Friday evening plus full days on Saturday and Sunday. People are encouraged to attend all of the training, and registration preference will be given to those who can be present the whole time. A donation will be asked to cover the costs of the training. However, no one will be turned away for lack of money.
