Lockheed Martin Leaks Dual-Use Missile Drawings Mil Watch - 02.03.2010 14:13
Obsolete, but still secret, missile plans have been leaked by a top U.S. defence contractor in California. Still-classified drawing of Agena D upper stage rocket booster Lockheed Martin Missles and Space (LMMS), the primary private contractor involved in aerospace weapons manufacture for the U.S. Navy, has leaked classified missile engineering drawings that document decades of ballistic missile work. Many are obsolete missile plans that, nevertheless, remain classified. Some are, for example, dual-use missile assemblies, such as the Agena D upper rocket stage that was used for launching both scientific satellites and classified military reconnaissance payloads until 1987. The missile systems, subassemblies, supporting ground equipment described in the plans were designed and prototyped at the LMMS facility in Sunnyvale and Mountain View, California during the 1960s to the 1980s. No explanation was given for why the classified documents were being released at this time. |
